Difficulty level difference?

I noticed the two difficulty level, the normal and hard (don't remember the in-game name)

Since i know absolutly nothing of Dark Eye universe, but i'm experienced in LOT of RPG, i was thinking about starting in normal, but what made me buy this game is the managment of food/water/cold/disease ect... Like a RPG with heavy survival element.

Does the normal difficulty include hunger/thirst/cold too? or not at all?
Do i need to go hard mode for all those survival managment?


And how come there is no guide in the guide section? Anyone know a good guide for this game, that explain how the mechanic work too? (The rules, the roll, what different skill can do etc..)

If you do a little research on the web you'll find better looking versions of this (try google searching Sirtech Realms of Arkania Blade of Destiny manual) but for a start just about anything you probably need to know is in here:

You should also try searching for a pdf version of the world of aventuria. I posted a bunch of links on this in english and french threads in the Blackguards forum.

And I don't know anything about the normal settings. Haven't used them since the nineties.

Yes, since my first post, i've read the handbook ( http://cdn.akamai.steamstatic.com/steam/apps/237550/manuals/RoA_MANUAL_EN_FINALE_03.pdf?t=1390984463 ), but it was very helpful. Btw, my first question remained unanwsered with that manual, i've read some player had to manage food and drink on normal, some not, what about cold? Look like i will have to start right in hard mode to get the survival managment, but i do not wanted the NPC to be artificially buffed (which happen usually in rpg when choosing hard mode)

There are Beginner and Professional difficulties. To be subject to everything Realms of Arkania has to offer (survival, sicknesses etc) you should start at Professional. Professional has NO artificially buffed opponents or anything artificially more difficult.

In Beginner you don't manage for them and probably will not need to use a good deal of survival items...it is for people who are not experienced with old-school Arkania games.

Go Professional for a good old-school enjoyment.
