There are a couple of battles in the game that are daggers-only battles, are you sure it's not one of those? Such as Caught With Your Pants Down, or Tenochtitlan Temples?

Thanks Nova, that's EXACTLY it! Caught With Your Pants Down...gotta tell you that this random encounter is definitely a tough challenge!! ...getting close to 60 hours with the game. Loving every minute of it!!

No, this is bloody unfair!!!! 8 veteran indians versus no-armor, dagger only 6 men? I have enjoyed this game so far, but this is just bloody unfair. As if the game said -" yeah, you feel alright, nobody dying, poisoned, have enough food? catch this, die motherf.." If I could I would want my money back!!! This is unfair!

I lost that battle and did not feel a tiny bit bad about it as the losses were laughable compared to what i would lose if i had failed a guard check

I can understand your anger:
You can read about my anger at the end in the old post:

Solution
Calm down choose only one of you chars you don't use normally in your fighting squad. Don't make anything in the fight just end the turns quickly and let it go.

I think somebody watched the "Kobayashi-Maru maneuver" in star trek and made a bad adaption for this game.

Thank you very much for your sympathy. I think I have managed my group pretty fairly until this point, but this encounter just left a very stale taste in my mouth. I have played Dark Souls for 100 plus hours, so I'm not a whining ♥♥♥♥♥ about difficulty, but that game did not feel as unfairly punishing as these random encounters in EC. As if there wasnt even mechanism in it which would prevent you from total disaster, eg. disastrous battle everyone half dead, and then half of your medicine is stolen next night. Also I feel as if the random POI-s are rather punishing then rewarding exploration. I did not encounter many where half of my followers did not lose some morale (I have tried many different choice paths with realoadin) even though I tried to chose similar traits for my party in the beginning. This game is very unbalanced. Its a shame as the idea and in general the feel/look/combat mechanics are good IMHO.

It's a small production and it has some open world features, so it's no surprise that not erverything is balanced. But this event still sucks.

First I underestimated the big impact of some old school rpg start decisions and the big impact afterwards. In Jagged Alliance it's not such a big problem to start with a non optimal party.
Then I restarted with a better skilled leader, a better assembeld expedition and made better promotions. It made a huge difference, more then I expected.

Overall, I really love this game.

I steel feel it unbalanced only because of the randomness. I was fairing pretty good, then in one battle where my 2 soldiers, 2 scouts, 1 hunter 1 doctor was decimated (even though I won the battle ) by 8 veteran / sergeant, I had 5 seriously injured party member after the battle, it was only luck that I picked a doctor (so now I have 3 in the party) when transferring to the other continent, I would be one party member less now... I dont mind difficulties, but when its pretty much random that I get totally decimated then I tend to be angry. I'm an exploration-type gamer, and this game is just punishing this. Sorry for the outburst, just had to get it out.

Now I'm in Eldorado, suddenly ambused: 6 to 11 (enemy: 1 sergeant, 4 veteran, rest man at arms, poison, area damage). My decision: uninstall. My message to the developers: wish you go out of business soon.

Sad to read, but keep the save files.

If you are fighting a large group of enemies the items like lanterns, barricades and the cannon can help a lot.
The cannon alone is like a seventh party member.

Thank you very much for the advice. I never delete save files knowing myself :) I might continue it, but I highly doubt, however I'm very glad to know helpful people such as you. Thank you again :)

Yeah, that's how you get us to value your feedback...

I'd like to apologize. It was out of pure fury, I retract my wish.I'm pretty much used to "dont give a fig" developers. I just enjoyed this game for a while, even recommended it to friends, and it was total let down that it turned into a suckfest. Mea culpa mea maxima culpa.

Yeah sometimes we all get a little carried away, it's all right.

What difficulty were you playing on? The event in question is pretty much meant to screw you over, as a central part of the game experience is the triage system, and before the difficulty balance patch we were seeing that most players seemed to very rarely get anyone injured.

Furthermore, we put a lot of work into making sure all but the last couple of battles won't end the game if you lose them, and Conquistador being too easy is a bit like Amnesia not being scary.

That said, I almost always won that battle when I tested it on Insane difficulty, though I did tend to take heavy losses in the process.

♥♥♥♥♥ them. Used lanterns, cannoballs, threw everything at the poor natives. The survivors were ♥♥♥♥♥ with daggers, once again.

Loved the fight! It really makes me feel like the new world is hitting back. Oh, and if you want to see what happened in real life to conquistadores who let their guard down, google Pedro de Valdivia.
