Expeditions: Conquistador
Any tips for a beginner?
So I recently bought this game, and so far I really like it, even though I'm not very far into it yet. Anyways, I have been having some trouble with the game, despite playing on the lowest difficulty setting.

I'm new to games like this, and so far I'm finding that I am really bad at the battles. I was able to do the tutorial battle really easily, but basically every battle afterwards is sort of been a challenge.

Anyways, I was wondering if anyone has any tips for a beginner, such as the types of followers to bring into battle, etc.

Thanks

Three soldiers, two scouts, a doctor. Vary as desired once you get the hang. Hunters bite til they become veterans, and soldiers have stun at man at arms. Scouts do lots of damage and move fast.
See I never take a doctor into battle, and usually take hunters, and soldiers. That's probably where I am going wrong. Anyways, if anyone else has some more input, such as strategies, and more tips, that would be great.
I'd try promoting three soldiers to man at arms before you do anyone else; focus on equipment, and once you have enough max out one fighter at a time (don't spread it out) Once you have three promoted, geared soldiers it gets a lot easier. Also, try to make sure you don't need to ever pay for rations or medicine (take Survival 7 or 8 and two hunters, two doctors) Diplomacy is fine at 5; you can make do w/o a scholar if you add 3 to Doctors Tinkering at man at arms and veteran. Having a scholar is up to you; I'd never go with more than one, two in Mexico, and do not promote them. Last pay attention to exp thresholds for certain encounter triggers (be prepared with lots of equipment for your guys by 600xp) Oh-- doctors are easy to protect in battle with three soldiers, and they keep your troops from falling. Try using one for most battles; nix the hunters,

I usually take 5 soldiers and a doctor. When the doctors not healing he's firing at the others. It's worked for me so far.
Yeah, so far I tried upgrading one soldier at a time, and giving him all the equipment, and it has done me pretty well. Additionally, I've started taking doctors and scouts into battles as opposed to hunters.

That would work, yes. I like scouts for mobility, though... feint rocks.

Nice. It is best once the whole team is geared, or at least three... battles go a lot easier with a couple tanks to fight with. Also, use traps as much as you can. It's almost always best to force the enemy to come to you on your terms, and they usually rush in without much delay. Make it so you pick one or two targets within reach the first round, taking one out before moving on to attacking a new target.
One Hunter, one Doctor, four soldiers works for me - often put them in a triangle formation, three soldiers in front, vulnerable Doc and Hunter niddle, and a soldier as rearguard, especially in defensive battles. Don't forget to make sure they all have equipment - just equip the ones you fight with regularly, but it's important to make sure you're not sending theminto bttle unequipped...
Thanks for all the help. Before this, I kinda figured equipment was useless, and traded it away for things like medicine, and rations, now I see its value, and so far things have been going smoother to say the least.
