Some achievements not unlocking?

I have most of my achievements unlocking as I play along, but so far the following did not and I don't know why. The Bigger they Are, Onward to Glory, El Loco, Infected Mushroom, and Don Quijote. I fully explored Hispanol and did every quest I could find there before sailing to Mexico, defeated Esteban, and did the mushroom quest and yet none of these unlocked.

i have a similar problem (and also win 7).

at least the following achievements didn't unlock:

The Bigger they Are, Onward to Glory, Infected Mushroom, Pot Shot, Champion, Prickly Pears (or however it is called for discovering Tenochtitlan)

others worked fine.

edit: did not get the one for rebuilding the fortress, but got the one for discovering el dorada like 10min before.

Same here, Windows 7 Pro 64-bit. For me the still-locked ones were Onward to Glory, A Friend in Need, Don Quijote, Number One, and (I think) Apocalypto and Fall of the Empire. I did, however achieve Infected Mushroom, The Bigger They Are, and Among The Prickly Pears, so it's not universal.

also not working too for me.

Playing on a Windows 7 Pro 64-bit too. Ironman mode.

Really sad, almost half of achievement not working.

Achieve fifteen Flawless Victories in a row on Normal or greater difficulty

i am at 10/15 but stoped working like 7-8 fight ago not counted ALL azthec fight to moctezuma kill and volcano parts fight.

Finished the game and not event counting achievement for end game is harsh, i hope you gonna fix this, wont play anymore till you do.

Achievements that aren't unlocking: Diplomatic Asset, Tame the Beast
EDIT: I also noticed that the achievement Among the Prickly Pears did not unlock, and it should have

Did you guys check if your Steam overlay was working?

I don't know 100% sure if it's related but I went and ran the game in compatibility mode for Windows 8 after my overlay stopped working.

If the overlay breaks for any reason (in my case I tabbed out while having the overlay on), I believe the achievements stop getting tracked. Once I was sure it was working again I reloaded a save and re-obtained the achievement.

I hope that helps someone.

stupid question but what overlay ? but i doubt this was breaked, i just never get any problem with any other achievement game since i use steam, but some paradox game who was bugged then fixed. and since i play in window mode i see if steam disconnect for any reason.

Ditto for me, Windows 8 64 bit - Achivements that I think I should have: Onwards To Glory, Cartographer, Champion, Diplomatic Asset, Building Bridges, Fleet-footed (maybe some others)

I have had the same problem. I have defeated Galleo or whatever his name is twice and protected the govenor but never got those acheivments. Their are qyite afew more but I don't recall what they are.

Same achievements unlocking problem also - using Windows 7 - 64 bit. But I discovered at ending my first game, that in first time my last two achievements "No man left behind" and "Cortes", where not unlocked, but when I quit a game - started once again and used my last save game to end a game - and then they unlocked! But I am still lacking quite many achievements, what not unlocked properly.

Now that I knew to look for the problem, I too was able to unlock some achievements that the game had not awarded by simply saving before the event, exiting out, and then reloading the save.
Unfortunately that doesn't help for those achievements that cannot be anticipated or if you don't know what you are looking for to unlock it.
