How to see cover of a space
I must have missed this in the tutorial/guides. How do you see if a space provides cover before moving to it?

When it's directly behind an object and the enemy is on the other side.

Yeah, you'll have to guess.

In games like, say, Shadowrun Returns, they just give you a bonus based on the direction of incoming attacks from one of four directions, so they can afford to let you know if a position grants cover before you move to it.

In this game the actual angle of the attack is what matters. Much more realistic, but it makes it harder to guess if any particular position is going to protect you efficiently or not (which one might also consider a good thing).

Hmmm. I never really know what objects are going to give cover. For example, standing behind a fallen log or a narrow tree wouldn't realistically give cover. I was hoping it would be more black and white like the system in X-Com. Thanks for the info.

A fallen log would give partial cover (based on which, if any, of two line-of-sight checks fail).
