This is a fairly respectable port of Mortal Kombat, the ninth entry in the series of Mortal Kombat games.
This game is packed with content. There is a wide variety of unique characters, from Predator inspired mustard and ketchup robots, a blade wielding mutant, a woman literally made of blood, and the reanimated husk of a fallen warrior soaked in pure liquid evil. :D
The art direction is fantastic, the dark realm of Outworld looks especially beautiful, despite some of it's locations being steeped in horror and gore. The story is over the top, camp as ♥♥♥♥, and yet still very fun to play through.
The only real criticism I can give this game is the quality of the cut-scenes, and the net code. Cutting from pre-rendered animations to actual gameplay is pretty jarring. As the frame rate will suddenly, and violently jump to 60fps. Then of course back to 30fps when another cutscene starts.
The net code is abysmal. There are frequent disconnects, heavy lag spikes, and (though rarely) the game will lock up. Making you have to ALT + F4 out. High Voltage received a lot of flack for this, which is completely unwarranted. These problems were present, and still exist in both the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 versions of the game.
Despite it's faults this game at least feels like Mortal Kombat. Which is more then can be said for Mortal Kombat X. This is also the last Neather Realm game where the developers treated their customers like human beings, and not just a wallet stapled to a budgerigar. So yes, Mortal Kombat: Komplete Edition definitely gets my recommendation
