Puzzle Kingdoms feels like a low budget match three puzzle game with awesome music and solid gameplay.
The mechanics require you to think as it’s not as simple as a match three game, but consists of sliding the tiles in the column or row to match in multiple ways such as L or T shapes.
You can play mini games to unlock soldiers, relics and power-ups. Within your army you can purchase different units that have special attacks and tile colour requirements. Each level you complete, you earn gold to spend on said mini games and units. Very important early on as you might see the game over screen more often than not if you’re not careful.
Puzzle Kingdoms succeeds with addictive gameplay and injecting a great deal of strategy that’s engaging.
I would have liked for more imaginative cut scenes and animations, I’m glad the soundtrack turned out fantastic!
The PC version has some bugs where it closes on you before saving in a level, happens rarely, but can be frustrating.
