Not my cup of tea.
It's too based on random numbers - you cannot be/get good at this game.
You can start the game, have no feasible moves to make, and once the AI makes a move, it'll get a 3-4 combo alone from the newly added pieces to the board.

I found the game to be an extremely frustrating experience where I felt like I had no impact on the outcome.

It is random, But it is a fun game. I would suggest waiting until it goes on sale, i think i got this game for $2.00 or so. For that price, all randomness can be forgiven. Along with that, being able to build your own armys can infulence how easy or hard an encounter is.

At first I found the game frustrating but as it progresses and you get increasingly better items and a higher level hero the game becomes stupid-easy. The combat is indeed super random but with a bit of planning you can finish the battle before your opponent even has the chance of actually attacking you.

Agreed. Didn't find it as much fun as Puzzle Quest 1 and 2. Only paid $1.49 for it though, so not too mad.

You can use a certain amount of 'skill' in order to ensure the opponent's options are limited (i.e. prevent them from gaining a certain colour 'power' etc) or to expedite your own success.

The only random element, really, is the next available colour blocks that appear. All else seems to be quite static and predictable.

Seems like you're just not thinking about the moves enough.

I prefer Puzzle Quest: Galactrix and Puzzle Quest 2, those are much better games. I picked Puzzle Kingdoms up for $0.40 though, so can't really complain. Puzzle Quest 1: Challenge of the Warlords is better also.
