What happened guys?
This game looked AMAZING at PAX, and then I decide to get it today and it's just awful. There's nothing really special about it and it used to look like something amazing

Wow you've got more than half a year of posts to catch up bro. But in the end comes deception.

But I'm gonna make it short:
From what I can tell, their publisher, 505 games, pushed the final release way too early. The devs probably couldn't do anything else but go with it which resulted in the greatest epic failure release of 2013. Not any other game came close to this level of ♥♥♥♥♥♥ness on the release date. Serioulsy.

The server browser wasn't working, at all, and people could barely play online. This, crushed very quickly, the player base. This, along with countless of other bugs.
No shadows because they would bleed out through walls (walls are too thin it seems, that's an Unreal Engine limitation I heard), no lean + walk because of an exploit from the private alpha--still not patched as of today. And also the folder game is still called "Early Access" which is a mistake according to the devs (they just forgot to rename the folder...).

You can probably also spot this ♥♥♥♥♥♥ .bat launching the game and hence popping a cmd out of nowhere to launch the game. Well... sh!!!t...
Also the AI which can't pretend to a single player game. Although it is way better than before since the new "DLC" update. Yes it was worse before.

Right know it seems that Serellan is heavely focusing on the XLBA release. Hence, we see all kinda crap from the latest update like controller support (fixes) and stuff. I think that's their last hope left: to screw console gamers.

As of today, there is an average of 20 players online only and that's worldwide.

Make up your own mind man, skim through these forums; go back in time and discover all the rage that happened. And try to play the game and enjoy it.

Me, I just can't.
I, too, believed in Takedown. :|

Well you bought the game. You might as well try and enjoy it as best as you can.

Yup, this kinda reminds of me of Rome 2 total war release.

For me it's just that the ai is soo awful. They either don't notice you and are easy kills, or they sprint for a short distance before abruptly stopping and auto aiming you to an instant death.

noow I feel cheated also, thought I was robbed when I bought it for$3.89 usd, now today it's on sale for $1.49usd

The game was really bad at launch, but i still have that little bit of hope left in this, that it could possibly be a amazing game after a couple more updates.

To become good, I think mostly everything except the levels would have to change. Basically, putting the same levels into a different game. It just doesn't "feel" very good, the movement and mechanics. And I'm use to old tactical shooters, which might feel a bit clunky, but they feel higher quality than this IMO.

Definitely man, I believed in it too. I kinda feel bad for the devs though, I can't blame them if the publisher wanted to rush the release like that. I just remember seeing it's booth at PAX, and EVERYTHING about the game looked fantastic, but somehow that all went backwards. It's too bad :/

I bought this game on release for like.. $15? Definitely wasn't worth it. Got really hyped about it and stared at the clock all day until I could play. I was in a day one group and no one could get into a game consistently for a long while. Those that could, had some fun but quickly got discouraged. Terrorist hunt with a few people with voice chat is actually fun, if only for a little while. Other games just have more to offer.

It just isn't good. I mean, it feels like it could be good. It looks like it could be good. It just isn't. Extremely frustrating design choices (no score board, text to speech on launch, no kill counting, and other general nonsense) and a wonky UI soured the entire experience for me.

I still start it up every once in a while to see if something has significantly changed, but I can't say anything really has. It's better than it was on release, but I have a hard time being positive about it.

I miss the days of RSV clan battles. Was hoping this would kindle a similar competitive environment :(.

For a 1.49 i got two copies one for me and for my friend. What's the worst that can happen. This can't turn out to be as dissapointing as Duke Forever.

Yeah, but the problem is the very demo we all have seen at PAX. If I were their publisher, I would have done pretty much the same thing: "Wow your game looks good enough. Let's release it in 3 months". It feels like someone lied or something, and they couldn't backtrack. Of course 505 should have see that the actual game was unfinished, but 505 is known for not looking too deeply into matters.

505 probably trusted the devs and henced pushed the release from what they saw at PAX. Everyone is at fault in this scenario. When the game came out, and people started to complain, the devs stated that most of our complains were unjustified and that it was for the "realistic aspect of the game". Like no scoreboard, etc.
They blatantly lied to us. They couldn't say otherwise anyway without admitting to have screwed up the whole world, including 505 and their own devs.

If I were a dev in this company, I would have certainly resigned. How can you find a job after "Takedown" is written on your CV/resume?
I feel really bad for them.

on offer for £1.19.......cant complain. even if its pants or not.
BrandeX Feb 9 @ 10:11pm
I think this game got published on to Steam right before the "Early Access" tag existed here. Otherwise, they probably would have wanted to use that to cover the fact they were selling an unfinished game. (which is technically what all EA games are doing)
