This is more a rant on the development process rather than a review on the game, per se. Other people have covered the pros and cons of the game quite nicely/succintly and there is no need for me to rehash on what they have said.
I purchased the Spearhead Edition in December, 2014 (I write this at the end of January, 2015). Since then, there has been minimal changes to the game, i.e. 2 maps added and some optimisation, and I don't count the AI bots as that is a given for any game regardless of it's quality.
I know people will come up with the old 'game things take time' adage and "such and such dev hasn't done this either", both valid points. BUT, A) Keep us more regularly updated on development, B) Update it with more content regularly and C) Don't post w%$#y YouTube videos about the potential of the game and what may be done. Seems like in the video game industry this is rife, especially with concepts such as 'early access' to hide behind.
They aren't researching a cure for cancer here or refining the tech of exo-skeletons, they are making a friggin' game. This is the same with all devs that take X amount years to make a game yet ask for funding to supposedly speed things up.
Crowd source funding/early access (they go hand in hand) in it's current form is mostly a dishonest joke (there are exceptions). So like anything, caveat emptor.
Unless this situation changes I will not be recommending this game, no matter how pretty it is at the moment.
Thanks for listening to my rant and feel free to leave comments if you feel I should be corrected on certain points.
