I believe the game is made with the XNA framework, which is made by Microsoft, who make Windows, who probably wouldn't let the linux developers anywhere near the source. So I'm not sure it would be possible to port it without rewriting the game without the XNA framework.

Edit: That said, there is an open source project designed to help port XNA games to none Microsoft deveices: http://monogame.codeplex.com/

@schmusekater79 Thanks for the kind words. Right now my focus in on Windows, and I want to make sure it's as solid as possible. That said, I will be looking at Monogame at some point (necessary for Mac/Linux/iOS). No promises since a lot of elements would need to fall into the right place, but rest assured that it's on my mind.

I'd really appreciate a Linux port too, if it's possible.
If/when you do, I'll definitley be picking this game up.

Just to add, I'd really appreciate a Linux port of this game as well. I totally understand if you can't, but a Linux port would make this an immediate buy for me.

Crossing my fingers for a Linux port as well

It's possible to install the Windows version of Steam and steam games on Linux by using WINE. I'll try it and report back later.

Hoping for a Mac version in the future too. Right now I'm playing via bootcamp, but not having to reboot would be great :)

@Mister Caek: for me it didn't start with WINE and in a Windows VM it starts but instead of Dust I only see a grey pixel block

I tried this in WINE and PlayOnLinux (Yes, I bought it despite not knowing if it will work on Linux -- I have no copies of Windows myself) After installing XNA and dotnet4 in the bottle for this, I could get the game to start, but it crashed out after the first logo. Looks like it may be a gstreamer codec issue, trying to play an ASF format video, at least that's what my terminal indicated. When I get some time, I may try tossing in native quartz and devenum to see if that might make things a little better.

I could not get the game working on WINE, even on Windows 7 compatibility mode. Dust and its dependencies installed fairly effortlessly, but even manually starting the program didn't work.

I guess I'm stuck with running it in Windows for now.

Come on, you know you want to make a Linux port :3

Linux please. MonoGame is really easy to target, especially the SDL2 fork.

NATIVE Linux version + humble weekly sale in the future should get you about 500.000$ in a single week. I believe it is well worth the effort. (or as part of a humble bundle)

I have been eagerly awaiting this game ever since I spotted the soundtrack on bandcamp (even before it came out on Windows). Right now I'm feeling pretty jealous of all the Windows users who can already play it, but my hope is that I too will be able to pay you some good money for this masterpiece soon!
