I don't really even understand what the problem with Steam, is. The game runs just fine even on Offline mode.
Well anyway, you unfortunately do have to buy it again from GOG if you want to run it DRM-free, like on a USB stick or whatever's impeding you here. Though i find sometimes i can mess with the files and run a game without steam involving itself with it, like sometimes removing the steam_appid.txt file (which is in the folder of the game you want to mess with) is enough to run it without steam. (Seriously though,make backups first and put em back if stuff doesnt work.)
No clue what the legal standpoint of these methods are but i just stick with the motto of i bought it, its my game, so i might as well do this if i want to run it seperately.
Technically not a problem anyway if it doesnt use your steam account for anything.
