Cheap Hits?
I think this game has a really fun combat system and getting big combos is really satisfying, which is helped by the sounds the combo counter makes as it goes up! But in areas with huge groups of enemies, such as Archer's Pass, it seems impossible to avoid getting hit. I juggle them around with the whirlwind attack, but sometimes whilst I'm doing that an enemy will hit me and I had no way of seeing it coming - and since I'm playing on the tough difficulty, that usually spells Dust's demise. Does anyone know what I should do to avoid that? Thank you for reading!

The easiest way is to use Fidget's attack every few seconds, and make sure to power it up with Dust Storm (or just use Down+Y in the air). Fidget's projectiles are usually good at keeping enemies from hitting you (by hitting them first).

Aaaaand of course upgrade defense first and everything else - only if you cannot upgrade defense :)
I think some people are able to dodge EVERY hit and projectile in game, but for everyone else defense on higher difficulties is everything.
My walkthrough on Tough was defense+fidget+items multiplying fidget's firepower: most enemies weren't able to survive even one firestorm.
