All sound stops on start up

Just as the title says, whenever i start up dust AET, no sound on the computer continues to work until i close the program. I normally use a planetronics headset that has little to no problems, and i've tried using my monitor speakers, which makes no difference. I've made sure that windows media player is the default player.

*three months later and finds no solution, sorta deprepssing*

i should mention that i use windows 7.

Same problem for me. Bought the game and installed it on linux. So far so fine but everytime when I start the game there is no sound at all.
All other programs and steam games are running fine with sound.
Dev please fix the problem

Also no sound on Linux Mint Debian Edition.
