i assume it should still go to ID Software. and steam gets a small cut.

i haven't checked yet, but i'm pretty sure ID Software still exists and still owns the Heretic/Hexen IP's and if they do. it should be going to them.

Nope, neither ID software nor Bethesda own the IP. Activision owns the IP. The money goes to Activision.

Screw that then... don't want to support those guys if they're still doing CoD crap.

Any idea how or why they own the IP?

You do realize that CoD gets sequals because people buy the games right? As in, if people show interest in Heretic/Hexen there is more chance of those coming.

Oh yay, a HeXen themed CoD.

You know, i used to love Assassin's Creed, but now i feel it's own success is its downfall. I actually have the suspicion that if the original devs stuck with the originally planned story they had in mind when making the game that desmond would have had more use and not just killed off at the end to allow them to cut off from the story and just make more and more AC's

Because it was developed by Raven, not id Software, and Raven was later acquired by Activision in 1997. If it's included in the Doom/Quake packs it's just because the Heretic and Hexen games all depended heavily on the contemporary id engines (Doom for Heretic and Hexen, Quake for Hexen II, Quake 2 for Heretic II) and not because they were actually developed by or affiliated with id in any way.

TBH Bethesda is not exactly better than Activision. I've been playing their games since Arena up to and including RAGE and Wolfenstein: the New Order and have never once played a game of theirs that didn't either repeatedly boot me to desktop or require far more than the suggested minimum reqs.

This has been on every rig I've had since the early 90s, so pls spare condescension on not understanding computers.

If you don't understand the difference between id and Raven then you probably can't afford to be whining about Activision (which BTW published id games as well) either. Raven literally worked with IW on Call of Duty: Ghosts.

So.

Also Ubisoft is full of AIDS, Assassin's Creed was just Sands of Time mixed poorly and repetitively with GTA and written after reading Illuminatus, and it was full of DRM that revealed Ubisoft's pathetic understanding of public relations and the video game industry, so reassess your opinions and allegiances to your mainstream publishers.

But yes, Activision is about as cynical as you can get.

Um.. I never once said anything to condescend you about your rig. I never even resort to insulting another persons knowledge of computers and setups because i know i don't know how much they know. So i'm not sure how you thought i was. :S

As for the Raven/ID thing, fair enough, though I don't see why not remembering/realising the difference (I say remembering because i very vaguely remember the raven logos before in one of the games) means i can't dislike activision.

Even if they published ID games before, they weren't making CoD crap at the time, which is the main reason i don't want to support activision unless they make a game truly worth buying.

Then you should buy this game. Companies decide what kinds of games to publish by looking at sales. Buying games like this tells Activision that they should publish games like this.
