Oculus Rift support testing
I have an OR and want to help testing the OR mode. Could you add an experimental build for the OR?

I have a rift as well, and would love to test it.

I am buying this game right now based merely on the rumor of potential Rift support.

it's not a rumor, it's a confirmed feature that will be in, but incomplete right now.

I barely dare to say this, but since its in early acces, alpha and beta version, I think that the reason why its not there is simply because its not ready yet. Id say that the OR support is so minimal in this version of the game that its not yet posible to imply it.

That said, I hope that im wrong and that the devs will release a experimental OR support option

You would go crazy shaking your head? You try it for 4 mins continous without the rift and youll get dizzy, try it with the rift with extra weight youll probally black out. :D

The rift would likely just be for a viewpoint purpose, not for control of the charictor.

Nah, playing the OR Breakout demo was, I would a imagine, a fairly similar experience to what I imagine controlling the character in AS2 would be like, just on a single plane rather than a 2d panel. It would come down to sensitivity settings, it might cause whiplash if you have to turn your head 90 degrees to go from one side of the ribbon to the other. In my experience it is a very natural sensation, though again it might seem a bit strange being limited to only one dimension.

On a follow up, I did end up buying it, but I gifted it to my roommates, who as a couple play AS1 almost daily. I rock out with them from time to time, but I figured they would be better positioned to provide meaningful feedback being themselves much more dedicated to the craft.

OR is in extremly early development. I think it could work with third person, if executed properly. I think it could work extremly well with audiosurf, just imagine yourself being on a track, controlling the little guy before you. The point isnt to get a POV, but to get more into the game. It could work very well if executed properly

The Rift is great in first person, but it is perfectly fine in 3rd person. Or top down. Perspective isn't really the issue, like BrunoWars says it is about execution. I admit it is a very unique and strange experience viewing a 3rd person game in VR, but it isn't uncomfortable or anything once you are acclimated to VR.

Besides which, there certainly seems like there is enough flexibility in AS2's mod support that it can be tweaked in dozens of ways to make the experience more streamlined for VR.

you can play cubeworld very well in 3rd person. Thought it would need to be able to zoom out a bit more, 3rd person is perfectly viable.

I doubt Oculus would be a good idea, those who are photosensitive would be idiots and try out the game with Oculus, have a seizure, then sue dylan. Also it has too many lens flares and whatnot to be that close to the eye and not be damaging. Even if this does get support for the Oculus I reccomend you NOT try it out unless you lower the brightness heavily.
