I'd love it if someone can verify if this has better quality over fraps, and I'm still waiting for the official "Yes" for us to be able to monitize videos. I have a big project coming up and it would rock if I could make a bit of bang for my buck (Figuratively of course, you don't make much of anything from ads)

This is recorded from elgato, then compressed through Handbrake @ rf18 w/ settings: "direct=auto:me=umh:subme=9:merange=64:trellis=2" to minimize quality loss

I knew it had to be a problem with fraps, the quality loss is immense with it. Now I just need to find a way to get an Elgato...

you sure? I can test tomorrow if you want. Ill test it with fraps, dxtory and mirrilis.
Fraps, dxtory and mirrilis should theoretically be better than elgato (crisper colors)

The RAW looks that way as well, it just doesen't like fraps.

that's looks almost the same as the raw output? there's definitely something wrong there. I'm testing this asap tomorrow.

Have you tried recording with a slower mode (wakeboard, pusher are the easiest)

A much slower one, the raw output is just as bad no change when rendered out (Of course). I've had this problem with other software as well (Open Broadcaster and Xsplit)
Tbh, upon closer inspection. My video and your video is just as the same quality with your slower gameplay. I'm just using a much cleaner skin that's why it looks "better"

I really think youtube has downgraded their video output lately. Even my video capture of shadow warrior is low quality
Yea, over the past month or two, youtube changed however they encode videos, quality was sacrificed greatly on all videos. However, its very noticeable on the audiosurfs.
The problem is that with audiosurf 2 it's not just YouTube the problem starts with recording. Yours I can see what's going on clearly, even on my cleaner skins people struggle watching mine.
I was able to record it fine using MSI Afterburner. I only recorded at 720p 30FPS but the quality isn't bad at all. The game itself ran at 60fps 1080p during the recording, I don't know if my system is powerful enough to record at 1080p 60fps. I'll give it a shot.

I was able to capture video with Afterburner, surprisingly, at 1080p 60fps. I'm trying to upload it to youtube now, but even a 4 minute video is 6 gigabytes at that level of quality. :squirtmeh:
Well, it uploaded. This is what my capture looked like at 1080p 60fps and uploaded to youtube. It's not perfect, but it does look pretty damn good.

I used the latest beta version of afterburner (3.0.0.16) and I had my settings at:
MJPG compression
Container: Matroska MKV
95% quality
Full Frame
Framerate 60fps
Framerate limit: 60fps
For the record, youtube will knock any video down to a max of 30fps. Which is really annoying
Yeah, i assumed it would do something like that. I still wanted to record at 60fps mostly for curiosity sake.
It seems the general issue has been mostly resolved. YouTube drops frames to something like 29.20 frames, it's so the videos can be seen cross platform.
