Is a Mac version possible?
Hi,

I'm not at all familiar with the issues around porting HL2 mods to other platforms, but would it be possible to release a Mac build / version of this? I'm kinda hoping this is relatively little effort for experienced mod-makers! :)

I'm fairly certain that all source engine games/mods are mac compatible at this point.

The Source SDK for Mac has not been released so I don't think there are any Mac-compatible mods yet (some plugins might have Mac compatibility but that's something else).

I guess it's possible seeing as the developer is at Valve and would have access to the Mac SDK though.

Though I just looked in the .gcf and it doesn't appear to use custom code.
Not sure if anything besides code would need to be done for Mac compatibility but it might just be a matter of someone at Valve setting the Mac-compatible flag.

The kit itself isn't out for mac, I can't think of any good reason why mods made WITH the kit wouldn't work. I could be entirely wrong though

What do you mean? There's no Mac source code in the Source SDK.
Unless the mod doesn't change the game code (in the case of Minerva it doesn't) then it will be very hard or impossible for modders to get the code working on Macs.

There was some brief testing of a Mac version, but sadly there were some pretty severe bugs I wasn't able to fix. If there's enough interest, I might look at it again - but no promises.

(A lot of MINERVA was developed on Macs running Windows via Boot Camp, so it does mean a lot to me!)

A Mac version would be really great. I got Black Mesa running using Wine but it's certainly a pain - buggy HUD, performance issues and crashes. So I'm not that keen on trying to do the same with Minerva ;)

Thanks for the information! :) Here's hoping lots of Mac people pester you about this now ;)

I'd really would like to see a Mac version.. beats having to boot up my tiny bootcamp partition and install everything there. Pretty please? :)

I'm all mac. Hate the Dark Side. Patiently awaiting Critical Mac Mass to convince you it is worth your time. Thanks.
