Generic USB Joystick...
Hello there... I was wondering if there's a way to play the game with a usb generic joystick (fashioned like ps2's), cause xbox controller is way too expensive 4 me right now, and playing with keyboard is kinda hard... it's not that hard actually, but it's kinda annoying sometimes...

That'll be fine. I don't know what controller it is, but I assume it uses directinput, which means you'll need x360ce. I am an expert on x360ce. What is the name and model of the controller? That'll be important if you're having bugs later, but here's a tutorial in the meantime.

1. Go here: https://code.google.com/p/x360ce/ Download two things: the app, and the library for 32 or 64 bit, depending on your computer. Extract the files and put them all in one folder.
2. Find the game executable in steam/steamapps/common/-game name-. I assume you know where your steam folder is.
3. You're going to copy three of the files you downloaded into that folder, same one as the game application. The three files are:
x360ce application
xinput1_3
x360ce.ini (if you don't see it, don't worry, you'll create one later.)
4. Now plug in your controller, open the x360 program you just copied, if it tells you to create an x360ce.ini file say yes, and you'll see an xbox controller. Play around with the buttons and sticks and make sure they all work.

If the buttons and sticks are mismatched, like left on the d-pad actually right or something, that's fixable, BUT...
if some are just not working at all, that is not fixable.

5. Play the game and enjoy your new fake xbox 360 controller.

Reply with any questions/problems. If tthe controller isn't working properly in other games but works fine in x360ce, I can fix that as well.

Hello,

Thanks for the great tutorial but I have a question. I'm trying to play the new PC release of Metal Gear and my Logitech Wireless F710 is having problems (like always). I'm using the x360ce emulator, which has worked great in the past, but now it's confusing two buttons and I'm not sure how to fix it. Basically when I pull the right joystick towards me, it fires the left trigger. Any help?

Thanks.

I had similar problem, I'm using usb joystick - gamepad like Dual Shock designed. So I discovered what work for me(windows 7 64 bit) I used APP older version x360ce.App-2.1.2.190 and library but 32version xD (I don't know but x64 doesn't work even you have 64bit OS)
So try older x360ce version and lib 32 :) Good luck, I hope I helped someone
