About Playing Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance Offline
Hey everyone, my name is TK and I'm the official Konami Social Media Associate Manager and, now, Steam Community Manager. We've received your complaints about being unable to play MGR while offline. Our official statement as of the moment is as follows:

"We are aware of the offline play issue for Metal Gear Rising for Steam and are working on a fix. Please stay tuned for more updates."

Basically, the lack of ability to play was not intended and we're currently doing some more investigation into to the issue. I hope to provide more feedback as the issue develops and I will try to answer whatever questions I can.

よろしくお願いします。

UPDATE (JAN/10/2014, 11:30AM PST): The official patch addressing the Always-Online bug has been applied and auto-download enabled. The game should now be automatically installing the patch, though you may have to restart Steam to trigger it. Thank you for your patience and continue to let us know any issues you are having with the game in the comments!

Other than the known issue with it crashing related to connectivity, please look into the following issues:

1)Negative mouse acceleration
2)Not supporting Mouse4 and Mouse5

I'm playing the game with a controller, but I'd love to use my DeathAdder. Unfortunately, the mouse controls need a bit of work.

If people wonder what this means. It's used in formal introductions. In latin characters it is written as...

"yoroshiku onegaishimasu"

...which is a very polite Japanese language expression. In this situation it translates into...

"I look forward to working with you"

Can I ask if you guys plan on fixing the refresh rate of the game? my monitor only works on 59htz so I can't play on fullscreen only on windows mode and the window borders bother me a lot, also if is there any chance for a borderless windowed mode.

We will be looking into the offline issue first, but I will sure to make sure this makes it up the ladder to development.

I use Win 8.1 and MGR didn't save my game. Now I have to set "Run as Admin" in exe file.

Hope you fix this asap.

We will be investigating further issues after resolving the critical online issue first, but I will make sure this makes it up the ladder to development. For now, have you tried using the Launch Option commands '-windowed' and '-noborder'? No guarantee on it working but it might be a quick fix.

There seems to be a few issues with the game too, like Sundowner getting stuck on the ground while escaping with the president in the first mission.
Also some projectiles, such as missiles won't explode on Raiden and will cut themselves apart automatically after a while, even if Raiden doesn't move.
And the slightly worse is that sometimes in the first sequence, the clock tower won't load and the game gets stuck there.

Outstanding. While I'm amazed that nobody in the port-making ran into this problem, likewise for the 24 Hz lock under HDMI, it's good that on the day 1 you have a PR on the forums making sure that everything is getting fixed :)

TK, thanks for the news. Please thank Konami for releasing Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance on PC. I know they made a PC version for the first 2 games in the series. Hopefully the sales of the latest one on PC will show Konami that even on PCs there is an appreciation for Metal Gear Solid games, and not just Metal Gear Solid games. I look forward to others.

Thank you for letting us know. We're currently all hands on deck for fixing the online issue, but it's all going in a big report to development.

I'm very happy to see Konami and Platinum looking at these issues so closely.

Just a note that I am currently leaving the office and will be unable to respond to questions until tomorrow @9AM PST when I will be revisiting this thread, so please continue to post issues that you are having. Thank you!

Very good to see some direct contact from Konami, appreciate it. Internet connection is not stable here, and this causes severe issues with playing. Looking forward to a solution soon.
