Parrying seems a bit finicky...
So, I understand how parrying works. They're pretty much just like smash attacks in smash bros, you would think if smash bros can get them to work accuratly, this game could too, but apparently not.

I'm using an xbox360 pad, yesterday I wasn't having too many problems, and was managing to parry farly accuratly. Today, just started in the sewers, first creature I come across, and suddenly, every parry I do is attacking instead. It works maybe 20% of the time. I'm doing exactly the same thing, same way I'd do a smash in smash bros. I know my timing is fine, I press the button as I hit the direction on the stick. I've tried other timings, no luck.

This makes me think this might have something to do with the dead zone on the stick, and the game simply doesn't handle it well. I do find every now and then my characters walks on his own, it's not common, but it does happen. I havn't seen any dead zone controls in-game. Anyone else had issues with this?

I've never had any problems. Maybe it's really the controller? It could also be that your game isn't running at constant 60 fps (I've read some problems may appear if the game is running slower than it's intended to be).

This pretty much says that your controller is broken somehow. Try mouse and keyboard, if it works then go borrow another Xbox 360 gamepad from a friend, and if that works too, get yourself a new Xbox 360 gamepad from store.

This. If your character is moving without you moving the analog stick, it means that either the stick's deadzone is off, and needs to be recalibrated in Windows, or that the stick is busted, from years of use. Because MGR's parrying relies on the analog stick, you're going to have problems if your stick either has its deadzone off, or is "leaning" to one side from being used a bunch. My old PS2 pads suffer from the latter problem, so I've had to use my PS3 pad for a lot of games, lately.

Thanks, but no controller really has a perfectly calibrated stick, which is why games have deadzones inbuilt, this game doesn't seem to though, or at least isn't very generous with it. That, or the 360 usually handles the deadzone itself, while windows needs to be set up manually or works differently. Never had this problem on any other game is all, which is why I don't think the controller is entirly to blame. I have tried it with another controller though, havn't yet seen the character walk by himself, but that issue crops up so rarely, it's hardly a proper test. Parrying seems slightly more accurate, but still fails often.

Will try keyboard and see what happens...

It's much easier to parry with kb+m.

Maybe its a stupid question, but do you aim in the direction of the enemy while parrying?

Also if you mean those gorilla like enemy, most his attacks are grabs, they cant be blocked. You have to use the offense-defense move. With the right timing of course.

Uhm regardless, your character shouldn't be moving on it's own, try another controller.
