How are the keyboard and mouse controls?
Pretty much title. Does this game require a controller?

I tried it out once with a keyboard and did just fine.
Using a mouse for Blade Mode takes some getting used to, but there aren't any major issues. So no, you don't need a controller, but it might help if you just can't get used to the mouse controls.
Controls are terrible. May be they're ok for people who play games like these everyday, but i don't get it why suddenly main character can jump very high at the boss and beging to slash something very usefull and other times he just turn towards some deadly beam or missle and try to hack it in blade mode. Camera is out of control totaly.

Yeah cameras sensivity is set pretty high but you can lock the target.
I'm finding the blade mode to be pretty difficult. That and the fact that you have to use your light attack to block?

Camera is all over the place too. Might play it some more and see if I get used to it but might have to get a controller to play this and other titles properly.
Recommend joysticks or gamepad ... developped by PlatiniumGames for Xbox and Ps3 --> joysticks, you can play ... but keyboard and mouse camera and keyboard controlers are HORRIBLE.

Thanks Ps3 joysticks and "Ds3 Tool" :Rubber_Duck:
Somehow I found it easier to do parrying with mouse and keyboard than a controller while fighting Sam using Raiden, maybe it's because I could hit the mouse button faster than a controller button, or maybe it's because I was just bad at hitting the correct "direction" that the enemy attack is coming from with a controller.
Simply put the game is unplaybale with M&K on anything higer than easy.

No. Keyboard and mouse works fine and there's nothing I'd complain about except the small negative mouse acceleration. You can rebind the keys, and you can adjust all the relevant settings.

That's not true. You probably don't have the kind of experience required to play MGR with keyboard and mouse. Or you've misunderstood something.

I personally had loads of problems playing MGR with gamepad. Keyboad and mouse worked a lot better for me and made the game more enjoyable to play. The keyboard and mouse from my behalf are recommended way to play MGR. Mouse makes blade mode more accurate and parrying easier. Not to mention locking the camera is easier too. I completed the game on normal mode.

I'm getting tired of gamepad users bashing the kb+m in these threads. If gamepad works for you that's good. But please stop ♥♥♥♥-talking about keyboard and mouse support.

One thing I'd like to complain about KB&M is that it puts too many keys on your left hand, you have the blade mode key shift and ninja run key ctrl right next to each other, not to mention they are both near the windows key. This can lead to some pretty annoying mishandling. It would be nice if this game supportted mouse with multi keys. I agree with your feeling that mouse makes parrying and blade mode easier, though.

I don't use Ctrl at all in games. Since MGR allows rebinding all the keys I probably had Ninja run binded to Shift, Blade Mode to Alt, and I had made some other changes too. By default offensive-defensive move is binded to z, but I think I changed that around too.

Changing keys is just common sense if the pre-made layout doesn't work. I'm kind of astonished that people are making noise about such a simple thing that's common sense.

I don't think there is too many keys in MGR for one hand to manage. But I guess since I've been playing since late 80s I'm used to games having "flight simulator controls". System Shock 1 (which is a really good FPS/ARPG game) especially is like that with it using "sxzc + qwe + ad + rfv + tgb + space + shift + ctrl + alt + esc" as it's normal layout. You're supposed to control everything with just your left hand. (Right hand uses either mouse or numeric pad.) There are extra buttons you might want to learn to use too. (I've played SS1 so much that I remember each and every key. lol)

I've never had issues with the meta-key (windows-key) but I know it's a problem for some people because Logitech even built-in a switch in their gaming oriented keyboards that disable the meta-key. lol

Yeah, ability to bind functions to extra mouse buttons buttons would have been nice addition. But I'm pretty happy with how MGR turned out to be.

MGR very well could have been yet another Dark Souls or Killer is Dead (keyboard and mouse wise). I'd probably not recommend playing either Dark Souls or Killer is Dead with a keyboard and mouse. lol
