Level Editor?
Would anyone be interested in this?

The thing is, Anodyne wasn't coded with it in mind, so it might be hard to pull off. But if I did, it would be pretty basic:

- No doors between different maps. Maybe doors in the same map.
- No NPCs or dialogue (possibly the rocks with a single "chunk" of dialogue)
- One and song per map.
- Maybe bosses.
- Likely most enemies/dungeon things

It would export to some arbitrary file format and you could upload it to Steam workshop and play them in your game.

Sure. Votes +1

That actually could be very interesting.

Sure thing duder, gib editor. Also, I don't know if anyone really needs/wants it, providing source code is always an option.

I don't think, that this editor will be so needed. Because For what? It will be better, if you will make dialogues editor (read as translator). Remember, I wrote you about that?)

As long as you supported steam workshop for sharing levels, make the format able to support features in the future, and well, start small.

Yeah, I would start small. Might be a good time to try and work on a translation too, though we are working on our new game so these htings would take aw hile. I'm most familiar with spanish and it's a similar character set so I could see what I can workon with that, then move onto tougher things (french, russian, etc)

I would be more interested in a spanish version than a level editor. I speak spanish (I'm argentinian), you can contact me if you want to check something.
I think I would be great if we can make our own custom stories, but with those limitations I'm not interested. Maybe in the future if you add more features I can use it, but by now I won't, although is a good idea.

I'd love a level editor.. always wanted to make this type of game but I'm too lazy, so creating levels and uploading with anodyne would be awesome!

If you think it would be a valuable addition to the game, I think it would be a fun thing to play around with. Would it allow custom assets like graphics, sound and music, or would it be restricted to the default assets?

Actually, I'll second the source code suggestion. I understand if it's not something you would want to release to the public (yet?) but I'm genuinely interested in how the game was developed and would happily even pay an additional fee just to be able to play around with it.

Regarding translation, I found this thread and thought you might be interested:

It would probably be restricted to the default assets. I didn't really build anodyne with any of this in mind so it might be a huge pain in the ass to add in custom assets (or not).

Source code might come sometime next year. I'd like to release it at some point, but not now.

thanks for the tip! I posted in that thread. I'd like to do a spanish or french translation first .

Sounds like an interesting idea, I'm all ears for something like this.

Might be really interesting! Even though it would be quite limited, it's still a nice addition (and some people can make amazing stuff even with limited tools).

It would also be nice to have a French translation. That might motivate some of my friends to try your (excellent) game :)

I would definitely use it!
