Does Tropico 3 have any form of 3rd party DRM? If so what kind? I wanted to buy T4 but decided against it since you need a Kalypso account. Thanks!

I still don't have an answer to the DRM question, but I'm guessing it does. I went ahead and bought to be greeted with a requirement of an activation key. I wish the store page by steam either had a DRM filter or a spot on the page for every game where it always said whether a game had DRM or not.

I complain because steam ought to be enough DRM by itself. Also, I'm not complaining about DRM, but rather multiples levels of DRM that are not listed in the product page.

I guess the DRM they are talking about are the spewful extra 3rd party DRM like Uplay and Microsoft's one which are basically a grab for your personally identifying info and to track you for market data. I won't buy any games with 3rd party DRM, but an activation key doesn't bother me. I didn't have to do anything other than copy it to clipboard and the game seemed happy with that.

Activation key is a form of copy protection, but I wouldn't class it as DRM proper.

You don't need a Kalypso account to play Tropico 4 if you play it offline.
