Question regarding Smartlink Weapon selection

I am close to the end of this game. Looking through the selection of weapons offered by the final arms dealer, I've noticed that very few weapons are offered with smartlinks. Is the selection of smartlinked weapon randomized, or does this game arbitrarily decide what weapons get smartlinks? I want an Ares Predator with a link, as I saw one of my teammates had one, but it's not even one of the choices. It is also incredibly ridiculous that we're only given the opportunity to use smartlinks at the end of the game. =\

I agree with you. On much earlier missions you can get runners with you that have smartlinked weapons but you can only buy them at very end and only one weapon from each weapon type is offered and not even the best one.

Smartlinks are supposed to increase your accuracy, and make it so you can perform better with the weapon.

smartlink weapons were supposed to do more than accuracy increases, originally they were mini computer components that controls your guns firing. If linked to a cyber arm it would auto aim and fire for the user. You could spray a room and it would know when not to fire leaving your team unharmed. To bad but it's been nerfed in SR:R. But I have been wondering that myself. What was the point of me getting a data jack in my head if I couldn't get the gun i wanted with a smartlink. (As far as I know smart goggles isn't an option in the game. I don't even know if I needed a datajack in SR:R for smartlink)

The entry for the datajack says that it is required for smartlink weapons.

Did anyone notice if you couldnt use a smartlink weapon without the datajack and if it was really any better then a normal weapon?
