Export characters for UGC?
So.. maybe i'm just missing the button or something... but if wanted to export my character who completed the campaign (or any mission/campaign) for use in UGC... how do I do that?

Or do I have to recreate a new character every time I want to play new content?

Bump. I was thinking the same thing - I just finished the campaign. I seriousy hope this will be possible.

Life on a Limb has "Import character" option at the start, so it is possible. However I have not dabbled in it. I recommend downloading LOAL and check it in editor.

When starting a UGC like Life on a Limb, there's an option to import a character from a save. Just select the save you want and continue using your character.

Yep any character at any point can be imported into another campaign. You don't need to have one that finished the campaign. It will create another character save for the new campaign.

The creator of the UGC needs to have the import character enabled or you can't import. Some will not allow an import and others may have a predefined character.

You don't get to 'export' a character. If you start a campaign that allows character importation then you will be given the option to use one of the characters in your saves.

Hmmm I think this game really needs an export functionality where we can save characters as separate files.

Huh? They're automatically "saved / exported" every time you save the game. Every time your game saves, you can then (whenever you want) go use THAT CHARACTER, as an imported character. It works fine as is. In this case "save" and "export" basically do the same thing.

Yeah, after figuring out the system, I think it works just fine. My initial confusion was just from expecting an export button, like in other games.

The important thing now, however, is making sure modders who create UGC remember to put a save/export function at the end of their campaigns so PCs can transition from UGC to UGC as a form of character progression,

Yeah, I've been pushing for that ever since the start. A lot of modders don't seem to think it's a big deal if you can't carry your character over to new UGC, because Shadowrunners aren't supposed to last very long "in real life" (or some sort of weird argument like that). But I agree with you 100%, to me it's VERY important that we're able to save at the end of the DLC packs, because without that final save (after the reward), it leaves you feeling like your character can never make any progress since they always start back where they were before the mission.

though exported character are tend to overpower so most of the time they ruining the experience the modder try to build just because you are omnipotent runner. even by increasing difficulty spike wont do justice since you can make tanker street samurai who exel at decking charisma etc giving you access to all option. not fun. so some modder are greyed out the import export thing on ther UGC. of if they are newby they simply forget to add that XD
