Shadowrun Returns
Has the save system been overhauled yet? (Save anywhere/anytime)
Looked around and didn't find anything, so Im guessing you still cannot save anywhere or anytime and the game still only has an autosave system?

If so, has there been any update/confirmation on if they are really planning on adding a proper save system?

No. There are ways to trick it in the editor, but there isn't a native way. Personally, I like the idea that you have to wait a while in between saves. This isn't what most people wanted, but it's true to the roots of Shadowrun-- I've had at least a dozen pen & paper characters die permenantly in a game. It adds a dimension of fun that just doesn't exist in 99% of video games. Just my .02.
They are looking into updating the Save system with the Berlin update. They're not making promises as to what that will entail but they know people want it.

That said, I find the current system more of a slight annoyance than an actual hinderence in practice. Because the autosave isn't just a single save, its actually every autosave point your character ever had. So you can 'rewind' at will.

Like Massakre, I do kind of like that I can't save during a mission. I do wish it did have a proper save system when not actually on a run though.
I wish that there was the ability to save in the middle of a mission, but it would quit the game. On load, the save would be deleted, which means the last autosave would be the most recent save.

I could get behind that. I've played a few games with a 'temp save' feature like that. It takes some of the annoyance out of games with checkpoint save systems.

Ah pretty much Roguelike saving. Not a bad idea. It sucks when I'll buy equipment and think of quitting, then say "oh that's right, I have to change the map to make it official."

One thing that comes to mind with saving anywhere is that nobody will complain of it being hard, because you can just save spam. The last shot didn't work? Reload from 10 seconds ago. It's not very exciting. No tension or drama. Don't be a save spam zombie. A public service message.
The only real problem I have had with the save system is in between content packs, since most of the content I like has been made along the same style as DMS, you get a save point very close to most major battles. I hate losing my nuyen and stash between content packs though, makes decking very henious and it isn't great for Sams or Riggers either. Mages lose whatever spells aren't readied, it really should be changed. I hope the engineers firgure it out, then I might actually buy the Berlin DLC.
