Linux/Ubuntu - Random Crash
Game crashes at random throughout game play.
No repeatable trigger. Just crashes when it wants too.

Have tried a range of resolutions, texture settings, antialias, perspectives and window mode, but problem persists.

System
* Ubuntu LTS 12.04
* AMD Catalyst SoftwareSuite Version 1211

All other steam games are fine.

Anyone else experiencing this and/or has a solution?

Just tried FGLRX v13 with no difference. Still crashing at random.
Same here with the same config. It's basically unplayable :/

Yeah it is. Having to replay each scene multiple times in hopes of avoiding a crash kills the game experience pretty quick. Shame too, I've been really enjoying it if not for that. Takes me back to the Fallout 2 days.

I wonder whether to inform Valve/Steam - this title should not be sold to Linux users in current state I guess. In any case I have reported this issue with the developers.

Any other linux user out there that would share his/her experience with this game ?

So yep I guess it's broken on Linux. I'll wait day ot two for response from developers after that I will contact Valve.

Yeah keep posting those bug reports.

Hopefully the devs will come through with a fix. Finshed reading neuomancer a few months back and have been itching for some cyberpunk themed games since.

Havent played Shadowrun PnP in years.

Still crashing at random.
This seems to be the cause of the crashes

Unloading 1 unused Assets to reduce memory usage. Loaded Objects now: 29740. Its caused by dodgy code in the management of Direct3D in the Unity3D game engine.

I played 6 hours (according to steam) without a single crash (ok, 1 hour might be idle). Ubuntu 12.04 Nvidia. Perhaps it's related to ATI?
We are investigating a few possible causes for this issue with Linux, it does not seem Isolated to a particular distribution. I have recieved reports from folks via info@hbs-studios.com with output logs, (thank you!) and they are super usefull, so please feel free to contact us there and share those logs!

Running Xubuntu 13.04 with an AMD FX CPU and an Nvidia GPU, zero crashes so far.
Using the restricted drivers for my GTX 660.

It appears that AMD video card drivers are still hit and miss on Linux. I sold my old AMD gpu that was still in perfect working condition as it was unsuitable for Linux gaming due to outdated legacy drivers from AMD.
Maybe AMD will rebuild the Linux team that they disbanded to cut down on operating costs. I bet after SteamOS launches, Linux will become a priority for them.

GabeN recommends the SteamOS now, Ubuntu was last year! ;)

Its a Unity3D game engine issue, not a Linux AMD issue.
