Why the hate?

It's something i thought about for some time. I see what i think are spoiled individuals who speak drek about Shadowrun Returns based on things like "it's for tablets, it's not a master race pc game pureblood!!!11oneone!!1".

I don't get it. It has a nice story, the saves are frequent enought (and anyway, saves are going to be implemented). The rulesystem is delicious, simple but deep enough to create a wide variety of characters, the combat is quite tactical, and some of the user generated content is amazing. I just finished playing nightmare harvest and it is a fantastic (complete) adventure.

So why all the fragging hate?

yeah, I also don't understand all the hate. All the post I read, where people are hating, are all because people are misinformed and expect something that was never promised. And still they keep on hating. It's strange...

I'm personally bitter because I spent months working on a content pack called Kill-City Detroit and now I can't upload to to the workshop succesfully. But even still, I'm trying to solve the problem, not just cry about it like a little baby like some folks do over the smallest little bugs.

Keep trying avenger squid. I just downloaded it by clicking on your name and going to your workshop items. It doesnt show up in a regular workshop search..

I'm just glad i found it..I couldnt figure out how to "search a user" on steam like the guys on the shadowrun forum said were doing.

What amazes me is that virtually every game forum here on Steam suffers from haters. Pretty much every game in my collection has threads claiming how they're the worst game ever.

What amazes me is that virtually every game forum here on Steam suffers from haters. Pretty much every game in my collection has threads claiming how they're the worst game ever.

Anyone using the words "worst game ever" in one of those threads is simply demonstrating a genuine lack of maturity regardless of that person's actual age.

It's pretty pointless and petty to be spending that much time ranting or trolling on a forum dedicated to a game that you claim to hate (such strong emotions for what is simply a game).

Shadowrun Returns certainly has some flaws (perfection is rare in this world) but like the OP I've found it very entertaining and fun. The OC may be linear (and most games are) but it makes a very good job of showcasing the setting for newcomers.

I couldn´t understand the hate either , especially on kickstarter .
When people were berating and ranting it isn´t the project they backed up for .

Infact I remember them wanting to make a SNES version follow up .
So anything above that was graphic wise was a pluse for me .
But was pleasantly suprised with the character generation system , the editor and other stuff.
Didn´t like the docwagon being scrapped (but can live with it ) nor the save system .
And some other minor annoyances (like lack of different healing spells etc , but those aren´t like game breaking to rant about) .

But truth was , compared to the time/development of the kickstarter , it was the first game almost released ontime , especially nice to see it on the ipad too .
Still till dragonfall (berlin orginaly) it isn´t done the kickstarter .
Once dragonfall is done , I guess any futher DLC is profit for them .

Yeah, haters gon' hate. The only complaints i have are STEAM related. This game excells at being a shadowrun delivery system, i've been addicted since second edition pen and paper. Deticated fanbase, free (and often great) UGC, great intro if you're unfimiliar, these things really should outshadow any bugs the game has, bugs that can be fixed (people seem to forget this). I think some people have major issues with reading thier games. And there's my bulldrek on the matter, and now it's time to take my decker to Detroit......

Personally, I would hate the game too if it wasn't as good as shadowrun for the super nintendo, but truthfully, i think people are hating just because of the review scores. The thing is, a lot of people disliked Shadowrun Returns because it was too much for them to read, as many gamers haven't played the old style rpg, where you actually have to read, shocking as that may be.
