Loading Shadowrun Returns ... black screen with only SR mouse pointer

When I installed Shadowrun Returns, I subscribed to the Shadowrun Unlimited content after installing the original game.

Like the title says, the only thing I can play is the mouse pointer, which moves around on a black screen.

I've searched and found suggestions saying to make sure your video drivers are up to date, make sure your Firewall isn't blocking the game, to remove Shadowrun Unlimited by Verifying your game files and then removing all of the local files and reinstalling ... all of which I have done, and the problem remains.

Try holding down the left Ctrl key when double left clicking on the game icon, thuis should bring up a window where you can select your starting resolution, make sure you choose one both your video card and montior can support

Thanks for the tip. It did bring up the Shadowrun Configuration window, which defaulted to my normal 1920 x 1080 resolution. I was able to change to Windowed mode, and the problem recreated itself, just in a window.

I actually see a flash of a row of selection buttons come up, and disappear to the left of the screen before it turns black, it happens every time, same thing, and I can move the game mouse pointer around and can do nothing else.

Had the same problem, fixed it by enabling Steam Cloud and allowing the game to sync. You'll find the option from the library's right-click menu (Properties/Update).

Same issue, nothing seems to fix it, and only happens with shadowrun returns not the dragonfall nor hong kong. Wonder if it has to do with windows 10

IceTitan - I don't think Windows 10 is going to live up to it's hype, and it's hype isn't that great.

Had same issue. Did all steps of reinstalling, unsubcribing etc. Worked fine before dragonfall was installed. Enabled cloud sync and worked perfectly. Just putting this here on the end so others with same problem will see the fix :D

Had this same problem on Windows 10 - tried all troubleshooting mentioned in the Pinned note multiple times over, no results. Enabling Steam Cloud seems to be what fixed it.
