They can call it whatever they want.

Did you also complain about this on the warhammer series?

I've never played Warhammer, let alone sit on it.

To be fair, they're not called "elves" either. The original Germanic name was alfar. If you're going to insist on spelling the name of one fictional race properly, you might as well do it with all of them.

Orcs are not Orks... even if they share similarities... in general, an Orc refers to a fantasy-setting green skin of human proportions, while Ork refers to a sci-fi setting version, often from another planet. Think Humans vs Terrans.

An Ork with a minigun gets to spell "Ork" however he wants.

"Troll"? If me asking why a name is spelt a little strangely is "Trolling" then you're easily offended.

Wait, is OP an Ork or a Troll? Or an Orc? I'm confused.

And if he's so concerned about spelling, why is he spelling "spelled" "spelt?"

Move along, indeed. ;)

Cheers, mate.

Even the original pronunciation of "elves" and "dwarves" is wrong, so why bother?

For me, they should've been called Orrrrks.

It's a work of fiction. That fiction simply differs in some small way from what you're used to. There's no right spelling of a fake thing, it's made up to begin with.

Well Orc was an invention of Tolkien, end of story. But it has an origin or a possible origin that I just dicovered in wiki lol. Orc from old English with Orcus orign from Latin ie Ogre.

But clearly now Orcs have one source Tokien. And your interpretation is coming from Warcraft where Orc are green, not at all in Tolkien.

But Warcraft is now a major influence of what Orcs could be, dragging purely evil species to something more ambigous.

For Ork it seems it's a a name evolution from Warhammer where first Orc was Orc and then renamed in Ork. But there's no special Ork species that would be Orc in the SF context.

Yeah your answer was perhaps only humor but I had to answer seriously to avoid false legends spread. :-)
