So, is there a primer on the universe? I'm a tiny bit lost...
I'm not at all familiar with Shadowrun beyond seeing some of the art before, but I mainly bought this because I saw a friend of mine playing it and it looked like the kind of CRPG I would like, in fact it reminded me a little of the first two Fallout games which are my favourite CRPGs in terms of how it played. I figured I could jump in though and it would at least give me a basic primer on things like "What is a runnerr and a fixer/what do they do?" "Why is the world the way it is?" "Why and how did "Metahumans" appear?" "Who is in charge of the world?" etc. Just wouldn't mind a little clarification, unless the game starts answering some as I am still starting up a game right now

This is probably a troll post, but for others who actually want to know.

Not a troll post. Thank you! I'll give it a read.

If you're interested, the deluxe version of SRR comes with a longish PDF that includes a bunch of short stories set in the universe. Many of them tangentially relate to the plot of Dead Man's Switch, and they're also a good in-universe introduction to a lot of the terminology, slang, setting, etc.

Also, the wiki[shadowrun.wikia.com] has great summaries of the lore, particularly the "history" of Shadowrun. The wiki covers a lot of events that chronologically occurred decades after the end of the video game, but it also includes good information about what happened in the 2050s and earlier.

Enjoy!

Actually, since it was on sale when I got the game I did get the digital deluxe and I looked in my content and I have that :D Thanks for the reminder, I'll have to look into it because I am starting to rather get into the game, its fun! Maybe not as deep as I had entirely expected it to be but its still nice to see an RPG like this come out these days and needless to say the fact that people can make custom campaigns is cool :)
