Where's the game?
I'm a few hours into this game and I haven't made a decision yet. I don't seem to have any options.
If I enter the bar, I may not leave unless I"m going to the next mission area.....no map, no city, so far, it's just the game playing me.....I click the buttons, I go to the next scene. i click the buttons, I go to the next screen.....

Really disappointed, because I like the atomosphere, the graphics, the background, etc. Was hoping this would be more like the old sega game, but it is NOT.

Bought back to the future and found the same to be true. Just a cartoon comic book, instead of pressing the next page button, it's a dialogue tree, video obstocle course.

Sigh......

The game is very linear, sadly, but it is fun. Story is quite good, too. Worth playing if you can get over the extreme lack of open world.
Dragonfall is far more open than Dead Man's Switch, so if you like the atmosphere and all, I'd recommend you just roll with how the game is set up.

Play Dragonfall instead. I'd consider it the base game above Dead Man's Switch.

Base game feels more like an appetizer for Dragonfall. It's good for wetting your feet in preparation for the main course.

I personally feel that the main campaign is more of a demonstration. And a lead-in to the shadowrun tabletop IP, what with Harlequin et. al. appearing for no reason.

Comparing this game to Shadowrun tabletop is like comparing Neverwinter Nights to playing D&D tabletop. The same issues crop up regarding static content - and the only way to solve them would be through emergent gameplay, but that only works easily in roguelike games without a story - in a tabletop game you can improvise, but a computer game is very bad at that unless you can shoehorn in the gameplay into a random-number-soup.

The matrix could easily be more emergent, since that part of the game runs off of static rules, I'm not sure if the "Shadowrun Unlimited" UGC does this.
