Any improvement on WotR?
Is this exactly the same as War of the Roses but this time with vikings? Or are there significant changes in gameplay. If so, what are these changes?

you didnt have to grind for better gear on wotr. the default profiles can wreck everything. im like like mid 20ish level on there and still using default 2her loadout. just been hordeing gold. the expensive gear is really just for looks not for an advantage

After getting run down by decked-out cavalry, I have to respectfully disagree.

calv only seems ridiculous when they get you from behind. majority of the time i can always step out of the way as long as im paying attention to all my surroundings and then see one coming. also if feeling ballsy while your dodging out of way try to keep close enough to do a full charged swing at either head of horse or to the legs(back legs are easier to avoid getting hit). also if they are not coming at u full charge with a stab. just down block. now if they are full speed down block wont do jack

if horse dies they fall on their face then u charge into their back as they getting up. then proceed to kick their ♥♥♥.

now if there is a large ping difference between you and the calv. it can be hard to take out horse as u dodge.

but i guess enough talk of wotr since this is wotv forum.

Thank you Grizz and everyone for your feedback.
Just as a reminder guys this forum is for WotV and generating feedback to improve the game. Comparing the two games and saying what you think is improved and what you don't like as much is fine, but please keep it focused on WotV and what you've like to have improved and not about what you hated in WotR

Thanks.

Well I like WotR but didn't like this, if that helps

I think WotV is all wrong, doesn't know if its WotR or Chivaliry and balance is just not enjoyable (I didn't like Chiv, but apparently it is more popular than WotR )

It's not methodical like WotR but not as hack and slash as Chiv. and the end product I found was just boring, it might find a market amougst Chiv players.

I think the complaint of WotR being pay to win is rubbish
level 46 and still slaughtering with a loadout I made when still in the 20's all the big price items are just for looks, I think the Upgrade/purchase system for WotR is very fair, one of the best for getting something for your money/hours but not an 'I win' upgrade. I would very much like to see a similar balance in other releases, keeping in mind you cant please everyone I think it was near perfect.

This has a lot more focus on the core of the game, which is the melee combat. The main work has been to give you more options when fighting. So this means dodges, high risk-high reward special attacks and quick to wield and throw throwing weapons. We've also worked a lot on cleaning up and improving the customization system. Essentially splitting the purely cosmetic stuff from the gameplay influencing stuff and made the amount of viable choices when selecting your loadout greater. Perks are more powerful and game affecting, but also more geared towards a certain play style. We've also added classes to the game, which allows us greater control when balancing to make sure there are interesting tradeoffs for being ranged, having heavier armour, etc.

We've worked a lot on polish, improving animations to make them smoother, improved network latency, taken the overall visual quality a few notches higher and worked hard on making the impacts feel more and not be as floaty as they could be at times in wotr.

We've also remodelled the armour system, removing glancing blows, shaft hits, etc.

At the moment the game is in an alpha state where you can test the core of the game and two game modes, but there will be two more game modes and there are quite a few additional features planned that can be view in the road map that was posted in one of the other threads in this forum.

You might still not like it, but at least I hope I've given you a clearer image of what we've been working on.

just like war of the roses dont waste your money

please elaborate how it is just like wotr.

its faster paced than wotr.

has stamina system

there is now a run button

there is dodge which can also be used as a way to jump towards someone and then attack

special attacks(really have no opinion about them. it could of been left out of game but it does add to the gameplay a bit i guess)

seems like quite a bit difference with what i just listed. also we have yet to see the full customization system

also its only 20 bucks. hell lots of people paid 60 for wotr. so even if you feel not much as changed your only paying 20 bucks. im sure they did use wotr as far as a base to start off this game but hell other companies that do usually make you pay 60 dollars for what is basically a stand alone expansion instead of a true sequel

So the combat system is a lot smoother/faster? I hated it in WotR because the attacks always felt delayed after I clicked attack. That, and the fact you had to move your mouse like, 20 feet in the direction you wanted to attack. Is it more Mount and Blade style?

The combat in this system is phenominal. The footwork and responsiveness are absolutely on par. I've been having a blast with weapon combat. The 1 hit kill moves are an absolutely satisfying touch. You need to be careful with them because they are VERY limited in when you can use them, and if you miss... you're really screwed. Great for sneak attacks or if someone zergs at you and you basically make them kill themselves on your sword/axe. It's all about timing and tactics. I did a ton of 4 on 1 fights today because of it. I didn't enjoy it because I was beating everyone, I enjoyed it because every kill and death that I recieved felt totally fair. I saw people trying to do that stupid 360-swing spam and I cut their heads off every single time. That was probably the highlight of my day.

I love WotR even with all it's faults.. but this game is extremely enjoyable, even with the limited loadouts we do have. I can't wait for the full game.

The footwork and combat in this game puts both WotR and Chivalry to shame as far as I'm concerned. If you're worried about clunky gameplay, this game feels a whole lot different. It's like if you mixed Battlefield 3's movement (the good aspects about it) with War of the Roses.. that's what you'de get, essentially.

I was tempted to move this to suggestions & feedback but as it's more of a general inquiry (where good feedback just happens to be posted in the replies) it'll be left in the main forums so that new/potential players can see this and judge for themselves.

Game play is MUCH better IMO, i just hope they wont add any "impenetrateable" armours, like in WoTR

This - so far, seems more "skill based" rather than "do you have enough armour to withstand the attack?" based

You have my word as lead programmer that we will not.

Now you have me interested for real ; )
The biggest reason I like this over WotR (which I still love) is because it feels much better, because of the lack of armor. It feels like a true competetive - potential competetive game now
