Greetings brave warriors!

The launch of War of the Vikings is heading closer every day, and with that we are now releasing our final big content update to Early Access prior to retail launch - which has been named "Sunset" to mark the end of an era (and the beginnings of something new).

Our fourth and final phase brings you limited customization with perks, weapons, classes, taunts, cloaks and beards. In addition to this we have added the Tutorial, so new players can learn the basics without getting slaughtered online! As per usual we have also done a bunch of balance tweaks and fixed an assorted collection of bugs. You'll also see new map rotations and server configurations going forward to keep you properly entertained!

Since we're adding customization we are of course also turning on experience and coin gathering, so that you guys can unlock stuff. These stats are not going to stay once we launch the game and they will be wiped at least once between now and launch. The wipe will occur in a patch that is expected roughly a week from now, when we will be fully activating our Anti Cheat.

Due to this expected wipe we would like to ask all of you to try extra hard to break our systems, especially the stats, experience & coin gathering aspects. As usual please report all bugs, exploits and issues you find in-game on our forums and helpdesk[helpdesk.fatshark.se].

For those of you interested in what this update is bringing, there will be a stream tomorrow at 19:00 CET from our office hosted by me. I will talk you through the update, the future and answer questions from the chat. We realize this coincides with the planned stress test so I have decided to spend a part of the stream playing on the stress-test servers too.

This update is a large download (13gb) due to us adding and changing a very large amount of content. We assure you that updates of this size is restricted to Early Access and will not be the case after launch.

- Added Renown: A timer based coin multiplier system. Each point in renown multiplies coin gain by 10% (max 10 renown)

- Added several new events in Battle Chatter
- Added several new announcements
- It is now possible to cancel dagger attacks by parrying (throwing dagger included)
- Damage no longer interrupts parries and blocks

* Current customization options are limited, expect tons more content for official launch. First custom class is unlocked at level 4.
** Weapon costs do not affect power. A sword is always a sword and a spear is always an spear. The only exception to this rule is that Long Bows and Hunting Bows perform differently. Otherwise: All weapons in the same category perform identically.


[Balance]
- Increased damage of dodge attacks
- Block time penalties reduced to those of parries

[Fixes]
- Fixed a camera related crash
- Optimized network connectivity to help reduce latency
- Fixed a bug where several "Requesting aid" messages could queue up
- Fixed squad member icons not always showing
- Fixed help request icons not always showing
- Fixed chase cam icons not always showing

Uh-oh, flaming arrows and dagger feints.

But the rest sounds awesome.

Renown is a cool idea, so long as it doesn't turn into an incentive for deliberately stacking/mismatching games.

Will the Valhalla upgrade option be gone when the games launches, or can we upgrade anytime? Got the blood eagle edition as of now, and thinking about a upgrade when I have spare cash.

It will be around forever, but we can't promise prices will stay the same :)

hyped for the customization. Really a shame there must be a wipe, but i suppose it's good if theres any balancing flaws or cheaters. Also, i love how you tell us each weapon is basically the same.

Also I notice that the 'new move' is missing from the change log. Is it still in the works?
edit: they are probably going to do a wipe of some kind vexxen to all earned xp. if its like roses, there will be 1 week before launch that ppl can earn xp for release.

Maybe ddoge block is the new move . Granted it say's perk . I hope it is what I think it is .

We're looking at not wiping XP at a certain point, no need to re-earn that if no major change was need to the pacing. Coins and bought items will however need to be wiped.
