Demo not launching
I'm using a mac with OSX 10.8 and Intel HD graphics HD 3000..

I can't get the demo to launch, tried reinstalling, not working. I'm a little concerned that this might happen with the full version too.

any fixes?

As far as I can tell, the demo was built referencing /Users/mac/Downloads/openal-soft-1.15.1/build/Release/libopenal.dylib instead of the one that's deployed in the package's Frameworks folder. Unfortunately, simply creating that folder structure and copying the files under Contents/Frameworks isn't enough to get it to work. I had to hack around with install_name_tool to actually get it to run.

If that was too detailed, let's just say after a little tinkering on the command line I was able to get it to start, but there are still some graphical issues. My guess is it is simply a problem with the build. The non-demo was likely built correctly, or there'd be a whole lot of people complaining about buying something that doesn't work.

I'll shoot a message to the dev's. It would be nice to see something working before we have to commit.

Well, never mind. You can't post to the forum if you don't own the game, and I don't see any other way of contacting them. If any gentle souls out there would like to post something to the Teleglitch forums on behalf of the mac demo downloaders, I'm sure the nice folks over at T3P would be grateful for the extra sales they'd be getting from all us apple fan boys.

Like I always say, real gamers game on Macs. These days all those Windows folks are missing half the fun; their games usually just work right out of the box. Us Apple gamers have to play our games the old fashioned way: by hacking on them till they run.

If you've got Xcode installed (by the way, you should really have Xcode installed) then you can use the install_name_tool to hack on the dylib locations a bit. Don't worry, this will only change the Teleglitch executable, which you haven't paid for yet and can always re-download. Right click the Teleglitch demo in Steam, go to Properties, click the Local Files tab and then Browse Local Files. Right click the Teleglitch-demo and go to Show Package Contents. Open the Contents folder in the Finder window, right click the MacOS folder, and go to Copy "MacOS".

Open a Terminal window. Type "cd ", right click the Terminal window, go to Paste, and hit return. Then type the following two commands (You can copy and paste into Terminal, just omit the leading $):
$ install_name_tool -change /Users/mac/Downloads/openal-soft-1.15.1/build/Release/libopenal.dylib @loader_path/libopenal.dylib Teleglitch
$ install_name_tool -change @loader_path/libsteam_api.dylib @rpath/libsteam_api.dylib Teleglitch

After that, you should be able to click Play in Steam and enjoy Teleglitch.

Hey fuwjax, I just wanted to express my gratitude... they really half-♥♥♥♥♥ this demo build, didn't they? I applied your steps, but the Teleglitch executable still doesn't run:

$ ./Teleglitch
dyld: Library not loaded: @loader_path/libopenal.dylib
Referenced from: /Users/me/Library/Application Support/Steam/SteamApps/common/TGDME Demo/Teleglitch-demo.app/Contents/MacOS/./Teleglitch
Reason: image not found
[1] 13976 trace trap ./Teleglitch

Any ideas? I did find the libopenal.dylib in the frameworks dir as you mention, but I don't know what the @loader_path crap is.

Edit: I'm gonna use install_name_tool to hack the paths to be whatever they actually are on my filesystem. that ought to work.

Edit 2: Yep that worked.

Hey, dc443, could you post your actual install_name_tool paths for the less technologically-inclined? Thanks!

Easier way to fix this (it worked for me at least):

Right click on the game in steam and go to Browse local files
Right click on the Teleglitch-Demo app and choose show package content
Go to Contents>Frameworks and copy the file libopenal.dylib
Paste the file in Contents/MacOS
Run the game in steam

Right click on the game in steam and go to Browse local files
Right click on the Teleglitch-Demo app and choose show package content
Go to Contents>Frameworks and copy the file libopenal.dylib
Copy the file to Contents/MacOS
Run the game in steam [/quote] ye no go for me!!!!!!! :"(
