I've been playing it a lot on my Vita. It has an entire array of new levels but you can (very easily) unlock all of the classic levels. The new look is very cool and still reminiscent of the Amiga classic.

It's fun!

It reminds me alot of the original, but the feel is somewhat off. I guess much due to the new animations (since they were not allowed to use the old ones). The difficulty feels roughly the same too. Not tried any of the original levels though, but unlocked a few so far.

To the topic. Just bought it and tested for couple of levels. Have played the original with Amiga for ages and still sometimes play it with uae to get to the feeling. This has the feel in overall looks, music is a tad cheap (and who the hell invented that awful sound to level ending, should be shot on sight...), gameplay and controls are nowhere near the smoothness of the original. Played with xbox gamepad and the controls do lag! Also some movements seem impossible - as if some keypresses go unnoticed and/or arrows get stuck.

One would think that smooth platformer would be easy task with todays hardware :) Giana sisters showed that it can be done, even with gorgeous graphics.

Original superfrog >>>>>> this one. But hope they'll patch this to remove the glitches, then it might be on par with the original.

So it is not harder than original? :( except of the last pyramid level superfrog was way too easy, I completed it countless times while being 12.... And my gaming skills rose to a greater hights since then.

Haven't yet gone through the entire game, but the gameplay seems to be about 95% identical in the original levels (the only ones I'm interested in, tbh, the annoying new music kinda kills the new levels for me -_-).

The flying/gliding mechanic is slightly changed, and the overall fluidity of animation seems slightly worse (amazingly enough...), occasionally making things harder than they should be.

I haven't seen any actual input lag yet (on a PC, with a fairly generic Saitek controller).

Biggest gripe yet remains with the visual design choices. The old graphics had way more cartoony, cutesy charm.

the new music is not up to the standards of the music old amiga owners are used to, unless you are playing an origional level ( unlockable through the fruit machine ) there are various frustrations but once you overcome them ( if you are willing to persist , this becomes limited to the diagonal controls being a little unresponsive at times )

They should have gone with the art style of trine but keeping the superfrog theme

Couldn't they have just 'updated', fleshed-out and rerecorded Mr. Brimble's music like Chris Hülsbeck did on the Turrican soundtrack?

It's AWFUL. I couldn't believe how bad this new version is. If you were a fan of the original, this feels NOTHING like it. It's absolutely terrible. Avoid it like the plague.
