Multiplayer Question / Suggestion - Gender Choice?
Would it be at all possible to be able to select different genders in the multiplayer portion of the game?

I don't like being forced to play dudes in multiplayer games.

I don't actually own the game yet, I'm going to be getting it soon. So I haven't seen if there are tons of armor looks and such that would need to have altered versions if there were female characters. Please forgive me if the suggestion seems out of place. Right now without playing yet I've no idea if there is one look or 500 so I don't know if the suggestion is reasonable or just silly to even ask.

Maybe I'll come back to comment again after I've bought it so I can make a more informed post but if it wasn't a super whole ton of work it would be pretty awesome to be able to pick the gender of our characters in multiplayer.

Seeing as all the GUYS AT THE TABLE are being represented as the characters IN THE GAME, I doubt that.

I've played females in tabletop games, I see no issue with this.

i dont think he is saying there would be an issuse he is just simply pointing out that they are all guys sitting around the table.

This game represents a cliché and thats when "nerds" are playing D&D (mostly men).

But still a good idea for a female character ;)

They would have to be scantily clad with barely any clothes on, (if any) to fit the themes but yea :P

Hello,

The reason that all characters are guys is the following:
Every armor you can wear has a different picture. I had to draw using pixel-art all of them, and it was a loooot of work.
Including a girl as a main character means that I have to do the "female" version of all armors, said in other words, repaint them again!

Second, there are 3 main characters (Dani, Alejandro and Diego) and the RPG master (Ricky). Dialogs and the whole story are based on them.
I could ask artists to create a female version of portraits of them, but voices should have to be recorded all again (there is a Spanish dubbing).

And finally, what should happen if you are a girl and unequip your armor?... ;-)

Besides all these technical issues, I'd love to have girls in the game.

well, all that work just means you'll be appealing to another consumer base, in turn gets you more money.

It's not something that has to happen right away, feel out the longevity of the game and deem if it's worth it.

As mentioned I hadn't even played the game when I was asking so I hadn't seen that starting scene before, though now that I have played and seen it I can say that it would be very easy to add in female players based on *that part* of the game.

Obviously the starting image and text would have to be altered a bit to add a girl or two but that part there wouldn't be that huge of a deal. The table is a single static image and then each person has a single picture to show. There could very easily be a new picture drawn that has one or two girls, and they could be made as nerdy girls too so they can fit in with the guys there. They'd just be normal girls, not sexy video game out of place with nerds girls.

If the game is built around a specific story that is just about these guys I understand it not having girls to select to play. Just when we go multiplayer in RPGs I like to be able to play my own gender and that's why I asked if it was possible. If it's based on a story that's just about specific people I understand, but if it's early enough in the creation to alter the story a bit and having girls there doesn't change it too much there would be no reason those beginning scenes couldn't be changed too.

If you think it changes the entire feel of the game if the story is no longer about these few nerdy guys, fair enough. I just had to ask to find out if it was a possibility.

Hello. I wrote this above too but I was writing this before I ever went in the game to see how many different armors there were. I still don't really know at this point, I've only found three different ones so far.

I did realize that if there were too many armors to alter that it wouldn't be as promising a possibility :D

I also didn't know how much story already existed that was tied to male characters when asking and I do realize that it would mean things would have to be altered. It probably may be too much work for as long as the story and game are along, but I just had to ask since I like being able to play my own gender when it comes to online games. It's not a huge deal but would be a nice extra choice.

You could still do the girls nude, you just would have to leave off the "details" - so basically they'd look like a nude Barbie Doll. It wouldn't affect the rating and would fit in with the look still.

And yeah you'd need a new picture drawn where the guys were all made to look like girls, and then let people select to change their gender if they want so that like clicking on a gender selection would change each guy to a girl :D

I'd have to play more before I saw how much story was there to give suggestions about how to do it but I'm guessing at this point it's too much work.

If you ever do another game like this though please build female choices in from the very start :D Even if it's about a pretty specific person it can be done so that you can be either gender (Such as how Mass Effect games were done, they were about a specific person with lots of story but you could select the gender of that person).

I'm not whining or complaining and I understand if these things change the idea and story too much but it does bring in more players doing this so maybe if you do another game or expansion or something you could add a female choice into it. I'm seeing this one is probably too far along from what you're saying I guess. It could be done but would need too many changes to be worth doing on your end maybe this far along.

But I did have to ask. Thanks a lot for the response!

Keep the generic male body type for the armor, just change the face, add some hair! Pixel art need not be curvy, just some reperenstation. If it's mutiplayer only I don't see a problem with letting you pick your gender.

Leave off the details? Did you not notice Daniel's flopping penis after screwing the three orcs? I really don't think pixelated nipples are any worse than a pixelated penis.

And why just multiplayer? Add a female PC for single player as well.

I Would Love To See A Female Character ;3
Lets hope of a DLC with a female Bonus CHAR!
Dani's Mother! Weehihihoo!!
Just Some Dude May 28 @ 9:10pm
There's a ginger haired Chuck Norris looking guy, and some Bald dude in who show up in MP who have nothing to do with the story, why not throw in a female character?

EDIT: ^Dani's mother would be epic.
