same issue. When I tried targeting using tab I instead was swapping the quickmap screen for an item list view.

For allies: to use spells by targeting allies with TAB, they can't be to far from you. It doesn't work to far or unvisible ones and on allies that are on your back, above or bellow you. Only works to allies in front of you, meabe in a 45º to 60º angle up and down, from a line in front of you.

For enemies: anything that can use manual aim works as long as they are visible and in front of you, meabe in a 45º to 60º angle up and down, from a line in front of you.

Be carefull, after you use Steam Interface while you are ingame (SHIFT+TAB). Sometimes when you exit this interface, the game thinks your SHIFT key its always pressed and doesn't release it. When this happens just tap SHIFT key one or more times and everything is back to normal.

An allie/enemie isn't visible to you if you are blind or your view point is blocked by a plataform or anything else that its not a barrel, other player/enemie, crate or chest.

sometimes the lag doesn't help. steam and lag problems are not this game fault to a certain point.

a lot of new players like you are having same exact questions/problems as we, veteran unepic players, have some time ago. If you can, try search a little better in this forum before create a new topic.

Addendum: there are monsters in the game you can NOT aim at. This can even include bosses like Halkantarus at the end of "The Search for the Magic".

Sounds pretty strange to me. Never seen that happen but then i play with the keyboard while you're on a controller. Could be a mapping/controller related thingy then.
