Game does not work....
Just bought the game, and it crashes the moment I start the game. Says the game has stopped responding. I have tried every fix for this, and none of them are working.. This is a little BS. 20 dollars on something that won't even open is, in my opinion, not worth it. Please fix this...

How should they be able to fix it when you don't provide any information?
Please post your system specs.

Yeah, no-one here can help you unless you provide more information on your system and the error.

Hi guys i have bought the game maybe a week ago. Everysingle day i play and the game crashes after a while. If i'm not mistaken is crashes because i do a lot of things at the same time in the game. And i allways use full speed in game(dispite rare times i use normal speed), after a while using full speed it's when it happens. Shouldn't happen right?

Yep. It happens because the game reaches the 32 Bit limitation of around ~3,5GB RAM. That's why they were working on a 64 Bit build and you can already try it in the experimental build.

we call that the super crash. its related to the memeory leak thats in the 32bit build.
ways to prevent super crash.
keep squads small. dont adjsut squad sliders
save often
dont use any speed above normal, anyhting else speeds up the memoery leak leading to shorter play times.
and Why use 4x speed for entire game?? thats not playing the game!!! thats rushing thru it and thats not fun.. Kenshi is not a game you can win. belive me, you will get more enjoyment out of kenshi playing at normal speed then trying to rush thru everyhting at 4x speed.

what is the enjoyment difference between 4x and normal? Everything is on automatic mode, due to the snails pace of this 'game' right now, there should be a x16 and x32 bar

the enjoyment factor is what you make it to be. i rarely ever use any speed above normal. usually because i'm doing things, when i'm not out doing solo play i have groups of people building and training, i take a couple out and go bandit hunting, or cannibal hunting. or i run out to clownsteady which tends to have massive battles.

Or i do trade runs. or shadow trade caravans waiting for them to be slowly picked off by wildlife then rush in and steal all their armours and weapons, and when a pack gur falls, i steal everything inside it. ( experimental version for the last part )

I think you find it to not have much to do because you don't go out and do things. i find my fun and make little stories in my head as i do. and i don't get bored with the game. and never seem to need to use 4x speed.

so when i used to play on the non experimental it usually took me a long time before the memory leak would catch up to me. which right now is tied in with using speeds over 1x.
One of my workaround suggestions to combat it was telling others to not use 4x because i had tested it a lot to see the difference in game play time versus normal speed.

Playing at anything above normal speed would drastically shorten your game play time that would lead to an eventual super crash ( aka memory leak )
In the meantime during that time and now there has been a lot of plugging of the memory leak but its not gone yet.

Pretty sure if you take one unit up against 10 others with similar stats on 4x, your guy won't last a second, whereas playing the game on normal speed, you can wipe them all out, and patch yourself up after the battle... Just sayin..

How? What's the difference in right clicking once on normal speed or x4 speed?

Sure, there is no difference in right clicking once, but that is not how you play combat in Kenshi. This has already been discussed. Simply put, you're viewing surface elements and are convinced that that is all there is to it. You strike me as one who says that getting across a wide road with traveling cars is not possible simply because everytime you start just walking, you get hit.

Kenshi combat has a lot of micromanagement that you're completely ignoring.

What is the difference between clicking a combat skill, and clicking in different locations on the terrain to move your unit to the right locations at the right time? Where you click on the screen. I would argue that a combat system filled with combat skills is less tactical and less complex than what Kenshi has.

Micromanagement is there, you just choose to ignore it. I started a game with the "Rock bottom" Start, and a mod that made everyone except the useless town of fisher my enemy. I also dedicated a rule of no reloads. If I ever died, it was over. Done.

If i played with your idea of how combat plays out, that game would have ended the very first fight I got into. However, actually understanding the game and what it offers allowed me to spend hundreds of days, finished all research in everything, built a small base, aswell as had that one single unit reach stats of 90's. Alone. With everyone as an enemy. Why? Because combat is more than just clicking once and watching what happens. That game only died when 0.7 came along and i started the process all over again in a new game.

SImply put, using 4x does not allow you to do that.

Pub, I'm copy/pasting this from the other thread you started, which you apparently stopped reading at some point.

Pub there's plenty you can do to affect combat. You can set Taunting, Blocks Only, Medic, and Non-combat as different actions. You can also let your people attack as a group or single out targets for each character to attack. Not only that but the decisions you make about equipment can greatly affect combat too.

For example, my common strategy is to have 1/8 of my team in heavy armor, and give them Taunt and Blocks Only. This allows that one person to function as a tank for my group. Then I have faster characters with medium armor attack specific targets 2-on-1. Just in case things start to go south, I keep a non-combat medic nearby to heal anyone who gets knocked out, and start carrying them away. I also take care to avoid pitting my heavy weapons characters against fast weapon characters when in 1-on-1 conditions.

The combat mechanics also change when fighting cannibals. Every time you take down a cannibal who was carrying a person, that person might get up and start fighting against the remaining cannibals. And each time a cannibal knocks out someone, they try to pick them up, hindering your bandage and rescue attempts.

And then you can change up the battlefield by luring your opponents into turret traps. The lighter the armor, the more effective a turret is, so this can be a really advantageous tactic. But then you have to also come up with ways to keep your opponents in front of the turrets, which can definitely be a challenge.

Its also planned for animals to be tameable, and then useable in combat, which will add more complexity to it. There will eventually be portable ranged weapons too, which will make the secondary weapon slot more pertinent than just "in case an arm is wounded" and appearance.

Just because you're not selecting special moves to be used doesn't mean you're not making choices. Think of it more like an RTS with RPG elements, if that helps. And yes, opposing factions will eventually go around starting wars and conquering cities too.

Oh, and procedurally generated quests are also a work in progress. There won't be some overarching story, but it will be mod able to allow people to add their own, if they so desire.

Well guys I think, first, one would need the capacity to think outside of the box. It seems in this case pub isn't one of those people. He needs someone or something to tell him what he can and can't do. Making his own story just isn't something he would ever be able to do. He needs instant gratification. I'm just sayin, don't expect to convince him of anything other than kenshi is bland, boring wasteland with no content. Some people just can't see the beautiful genius that kenshi is.

The OP has still not provided more info on their issue.... I hope he got it figured out then.
b0niK Apr 24, 2015 @ 12:07am
What I've seen are a few boxes to tick for blocking, taunt, ect, so you have to manually block? I didn't bother since the animations show them blocking, the block bar raises stats, so you fiddle with block after a strike? seems tedious.. There are no tutorials so what I understand is at face value
