Yep. It happens because the game reaches the 32 Bit limitation of around ~3,5GB RAM. That's why they were working on a 64 Bit build and you can already try it in the experimental build.
we call that the super crash. its related to the memeory leak thats in the 32bit build.
ways to prevent super crash.
keep squads small. dont adjsut squad sliders
save often
dont use any speed above normal, anyhting else speeds up the memoery leak leading to shorter play times.
and Why use 4x speed for entire game?? thats not playing the game!!! thats rushing thru it and thats not fun.. Kenshi is not a game you can win. belive me, you will get more enjoyment out of kenshi playing at normal speed then trying to rush thru everyhting at 4x speed.
Or i do trade runs. or shadow trade caravans waiting for them to be slowly picked off by wildlife then rush in and steal all their armours and weapons, and when a pack gur falls, i steal everything inside it. ( experimental version for the last part )
I think you find it to not have much to do because you don't go out and do things. i find my fun and make little stories in my head as i do. and i don't get bored with the game. and never seem to need to use 4x speed.
so when i used to play on the non experimental it usually took me a long time before the memory leak would catch up to me. which right now is tied in with using speeds over 1x.
One of my workaround suggestions to combat it was telling others to not use 4x because i had tested it a lot to see the difference in game play time versus normal speed.
Playing at anything above normal speed would drastically shorten your game play time that would lead to an eventual super crash ( aka memory leak )
In the meantime during that time and now there has been a lot of plugging of the memory leak but its not gone yet.
Pretty sure if you take one unit up against 10 others with similar stats on 4x, your guy won't last a second, whereas playing the game on normal speed, you can wipe them all out, and patch yourself up after the battle... Just sayin..
How? What's the difference in right clicking once on normal speed or x4 speed?
Sure, there is no difference in right clicking once, but that is not how you play combat in Kenshi. This has already been discussed. Simply put, you're viewing surface elements and are convinced that that is all there is to it. You strike me as one who says that getting across a wide road with traveling cars is not possible simply because everytime you start just walking, you get hit.
Kenshi combat has a lot of micromanagement that you're completely ignoring.

What is the difference between clicking a combat skill, and clicking in different locations on the terrain to move your unit to the right locations at the right time? Where you click on the screen. I would argue that a combat system filled with combat skills is less tactical and less complex than what Kenshi has.
Micromanagement is there, you just choose to ignore it. I started a game with the "Rock bottom" Start, and a mod that made everyone except the useless town of fisher my enemy. I also dedicated a rule of no reloads. If I ever died, it was over. Done.
If i played with your idea of how combat plays out, that game would have ended the very first fight I got into. However, actually understanding the game and what it offers allowed me to spend hundreds of days, finished all research in everything, built a small base, aswell as had that one single unit reach stats of 90's. Alone. With everyone as an enemy. Why? Because combat is more than just clicking once and watching what happens. That game only died when 0.7 came along and i started the process all over again in a new game.
SImply put, using 4x does not allow you to do that.
Pub, I'm copy/pasting this from the other thread you started, which you apparently stopped reading at some point.
