Is this meant to be a joke?
This game looks incredably buggy, and doesnt even look like a simulator, just looks like a sandbox of what you can do as a insane psycho Surgeon

I assume this should answer your problem?

I'm not sure if you're asking if it's a joke in some deriviative fashion when it pretty deliberately is. >_> It's funny and catharthic.

It's supposed to be a sandbox of what you can do as a insane psycho surgeon.

It's not a joke, but it is pretty damn funny

Geez, we have about 15 of these threads now; what's so hard to understand about this being a funny game based around intentionally difficuly controls and wacky physics? If you don't like it, just ignore it.

I'm guessing the name of the game throws them off. So far, most simulators for the PC are in a sense "true simulators". This one is not. Yet this game has the same sort of title as the "true simulators" do . So I think people get upset when it wasn't what they thought it was. The title of this game being Surgeon Simulator 2013 implies to them that it's a true surgeon simulator... which, obviously, it is not. If they feel bitter because their expectations were wrong then it sounds more like a personal problem to me.

It's a parody. It is still by all means still a simulator game, but it's also a parody on surgery. You're still given the simulation of being a surgeon and performing a surgery, it's just done in a way that is more humorous than realistic.

People who bought this game and are dissatisfied have no one else to blame than themselves for not researching the gameplay of their purchase better with the gameplay videos/screencaps/description before buying, or generally being too dense to understand that this game was not meant to be serious and highly realistic.

For the people complaining about how this game shouldn't be called a simulator, you're wrong. This game IS still a simulation. It's a simulation that is intentionally unrealistic for the purpose of comedic effect. It's a simulation for the purpose of entertainment rather than education, but none the less, still a simulation.

"a sandbox of what you can do as a insane psycho Surgeon"

The trailer kinda gives that away, mate. That is what the game is about, you know.
Its even in the writing. The telephone on your desk tells you all about the constables looking for you, and the bloody scrubs and surgical mask.

This is not a joke. This is a serious game and is very realistic. It is used to train surgeons. If you think this game is a joke you are wrong. You will face the real adrendaline rush of attempting to save your patient as he dies from blood loss. Trust me, I am a doctor.

Combine is correct. As a matter of fact, I have two friends, Dr. Howard and Dr. Fine, who confirmed that they use this at both John Hopkins University and UCLA to teach surgeons proper surgical techniques. Students are required to successfully complete all scenarios in order to move forward. It's not unusual for universities to use learning tools like this. Many top schools still use the Hasbro game Operation to teach eye-hand coordination and to familiarize surgeons with the treatment of ailments like the wrenched ankle and water on the knee.

"Surgeon Simulator 2013 is a darkly humorous over-the-top operation sim game where players become Nigel Burke, a would-be surgeon taking life into his own shaky hands, performing life-saving surgical maneuvers on passive patients."

That is the first part of the About section, looking at it you could guess it isn't serious. Just looking at the trailer makes it look silly. I think half the people are just trolls.

Well, thank you for your service as a doctor but there are things pointed out on this thread that make a legit argument.

When you do a brain transplant in this game, I doubt in real life you take a tomahawk-looking tool and just wave it around and break the skull. Then you just pull the brain out with your hands and throw it across the room, and just drop a new one in there. As much as I know, you use the drill and the surgical saw thing to open the skull.

Kidney transplants are also a joke. You just cut open the rib cage and fling it across the room, and then just rip out the old kidneys and drop in new ones, and supposedly that's the right place, when it's not even in the hole, or spot it should be in.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I think that doctors use fake bodies to do their stuff on, or an advanced computer program. Which I doubt is Surgeon Simulator.

If this was supposed to be a 'funny' game, then why in the world is 'Simulator' in the game's title. I don't really find chopping someone's skull off and ripping their brain off their heads and throwing it across the room to be a simulator.

Thanks again for being a doctor.

Should be renamed to surgeon with a broken hand on crack and alcohol and mushrooms and retardation or "gifted" if you will simulator. So people wouldnt have the problem of the simulator being "wacky" when they bought it
