Lag issues with A&E DLC

So ever since the A&E DLC came out, I've been having terrible lag issues that seem to have made previously possible surgeries now impossible. I'm not sure if it's from the updated graphics (and I have my settings all the way down), but it is an issue and I wonder if there's any way to lessen its effects.

PC has a 1.3GHz AMD E-300 APU, 4GB RAM, AMD Radeon HD 6310 integrated graphics (so yeah, an abacus is more powerful than my laptop, but that's not the point.)

Apparently A & E improves the graphics, but I'm not sure by how much.
