Simply buy the game and ignore the DLC?

I just finished the demo for this game and am definitely going to buy it. I at first planned on buying the game and DLC at once, but it seems like some people are having problems with crashes and stuff. Should I hold off on the DLC until later, or is it worth buying now?

I'd say buy DLC, it adds ton of content, including 10 more floors and 2 characters. Current version may be a bit buggy, but I'm sure devs will fix that soon enough.

They've been making weekly bug fixes and are very responsive to legitimate bugs, although as others have already found out, the game's designer can be a cranky old man at times who doesn't suffer fools. So if you can point them to a clear bug they'll fix it but if you have some whine or wish they'd do something like, "make the game easier", prepare to be ignored.

I think the DLC only makes the game more better. Hard to say how it effects the difficulty as in some ways it is a bit harder, but with the inclusion of the storage lockers to will items to your future selves, it is also in many ways much easier.

I chose to ignore the DLC. I've been burned before with DLC (Binding of Isaac for instance) and wanted to experience the original game before I ever stepped into the expansion. The additional floors seem like they would make the game even more difficult, if that is possible, but then I am having problems getting far even on normal.

Just as well, it will allow you to better appreciate the added content in the expansion as opposed to seeing it all in one go.

I didnt buy the DLC on purpose as I wanted to try to beat the base game at least once on every difficulty. Once I do, Ill happily get the DLC at full price to support the devs. Its a fun game.... in a frustrating sort of way! :D
