How does weapon durability works exactly?
I mean, apart from that hitting a robot with meele weapon isn't best idea ever, I can't figure it out . It seems weapon durability just drops whenever it feels like it. Is there a way to reduce the chance of it dropping?

Yeah I would be curious to know more about this too. I've noticed that certain kinds of armor seem to be more resistant to decreases in durability. For instance, the default armor for scout gets torn to shreds from light and med security robot shots, but once you craft some chitin armor, the dmg goes down and durability rarely goes down. Lasers still tear it up though. Is it possible that armor durability only decreases once you receive a certain dmg value (8 or over?) in one shot?

As far as I know whenever you use a weapon theres a % chance its durability will decrease. When you use melee weapons on protein or protein-type enemies it has like 80% chance to get its durability decreased and random events that "eat at your inventory" like acid traps or.. again those ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ proteins attacking you have a % chance to lower the durability of anything in your inventory. (Possibly taking what you have equipped and are holding as priority)

Still, it would be nice to know that % chance(s), I assume different weapons have different chanced to degrade, and more importantly, have some visible way to manipulate (mainly reduce) it. Well I suppose failing to repair a weapon \ armor can increase that chance as one of possible cosequences.

And a side question, why durability is decimal (like 12.5) when it olways seem to drop by 1.0?

Because damage by acid, prothean, and such can damage your item in fraction, not just whole number...
