The PIt: Gold edition out now!
Sword of the Stars: The Pit - Gold Edition is Now Available on Steam!

Since its first demo was released in the Fall of 2012, The Pit has become an indie hit with its blend of Roguelike action and sci-fi depth! Players were challenged to survive 30 floors of The Pit using one of three characters – the Marine, the Engineer, and the Scout – then in The Pit: MindGames players were given two new characters – the Psion and the alien Tarka Ranger – and ten more floors to survive through, as well as a wealth of new items, recipes, weapons, and nasty creatures to fight!

To celebrate the success of the series, Kerberos is releasing this Gold edition, which not only gives you the game, the expansion, and all the free content we added along the way, but we’re adding three new playable characters – The Hiver Warrior, the Liir Seeker, and the Morrigi Striker! Now you can test yourself against The Pit using all the major races from the Sword of the Stars universe!

So, no one will buy the Pit vanilla because it's just as expensive as the Gold Edition.
Which means... people who already own the Pit are the ONLY people who have to pay for this Gold DLC.

9,99 for The Gold Edition would have already been a nice offer for new customers without the GE dlc (5 euro discount). Well done screwing loyal customers like that while the rest gets it for free.

You sir, and the rest of your development team are DISGUSTING.

What is Kerberus going to achieve with this release for the future?
Are you expecting ANYTHING positive to roll out at long term? Anything?

You made new customers a little extra happy and feel special for one whole day. Woohoo they love you atm! One whole day, yeeeeeah.....

But at the same time you made them aware that buying your future bundles give free stuff, but buying the game and any extra content pre-bundle will make you pay for that same free stuff. In the end you disencourage the old as well as new customers to buy anything because both predict this will happen.

This is not the average bundle that is released. Games get older, some lower their price or get temporary discount, others are re-released as a goty/bundle/SE/etc and some do both. Nothing wrong with that. But this bundle is wrong, totally.

I can guarantee you that people will remember this dirty trick, some do care and some won't and probably think I'm a whiner. It may give you a tiny profit now, but at long term it'll only cause damage. Sure, enough people will keep buying at release I'm not disencouraging them, let them enjoy it from day 1.

As far as I can see, by adding GE dlc to the bundle you gained ABSOLUTELY nothing positive for the future of Kerberus sales. Nothing.
PIT+MG for 9,99 would have been a great offer as well, hell make it 1 euro I don't care as long as the rest don't have to pay for that DLC so you still get some profit for creating it.

And yes I consider this new DLC as a free extra in the bundle, not part of the 9.99. To me the only profit you're making on this DLC comes from people who already paid for the game and I'm probably not the only one who feels that way.

To be clear I'm talking about the new GE DLC specifically, not dlc collection. It seems it's easy to mix those 2 up.

You really had to spam this in multiple threads? And with 3 posts in a row?

Go home, Kassad, your feelings are misplaced.

Awesome sauce.... gratz on the new release to an already addictive game! :)

Some questions, I have Mind Games in my inventory and will likely do the same for the GE DLC.... if I install all dlcs I take it there is no option to play original mode or original mode + mindgames.... so I can get a flavour for the gameplay in those builds?

Or should the game just be played with all dlcs permanently installed?

Work on your sentance structure. I'm not sure what your question is.

There is no option to "turn off" DLC/expansions. What you have installed is what you play. Not sure if there's an option to uninstall certain expansions. Not sure if GE works without Mind Games installed.
I am certain you can play vanilla, or vanilla + Mind Games with no problem. Again, not sure if GE is dependent on Mind Games, but it shouldn't be.
IMO you should play with all DLC installed. Just making a good game even better.

Hope that helps. Stay in school.

lol - Im probably alot older than you. And was writing that while nursing a heavy cold/cough, so my head was a bit cloudy!

Thanks for the answers. Ill dont think Ill install them just yet until I work through the base game and have had my fill.

You need mind games for gold DLC. Save for mindgames is incompatible with base game. I'm still playing the base game and have not installed mindgames yet because the developers didn't come up with a game launcher that allows DLC selection options.

All Kerberos games follow this formula... more content/expansion = you have everything, and can now, in theory play with the new toys.

It also means you can't go back to a good old vanilla game experience and is stuck with the new toys whether you like them or not. The randomness of crippling fear in mindgames and the metagaming/grinding blue rooms aren't things I'm fond of.

Crusader Kings 2: Universal game updates, DLCs can be turned on/off.

Don't Starve: Features can be turned on/off or adjusted in frequency during world generation.

The Pit: Stuck with all new features even if you don't like some of them. Also currently the base game has not been updated with the new alt-weapon shortcuts and stack-splitting commands.

Heya

For the Crusader Kings 2 DLCs, it is not a case of disabling the DLCs.

The DLCs are installed automatically as they are purchased, in much the same fashion as The Pit DLCs.
The game then presents the option for whether or not you want to play with the "features" the DLCs make available.

Given the scope of the game, this is not too surprising.

Heya

What's your point?

So what if both games automatically install the DLC?

CK2 has options to turn on/off DLC, SotS: The Pit does not. So you can choose to start games without aztecs even if you have the DLC installed for CK2. You can't turn off Mindgames for The Pit if you have Mindgames installed and start new vanilla games.
