Leveling and reserving points
Hi guys. I have read the manual and I think it says you must assign every single stat and skill point before level again or you lose them, so you can't keep them.

Is it true or did I misunderstand the rules?

Thanks

i beleve you can keep them but with the way the system works why would you?

Noidea, I think I read somewhere that sometimes its better to keep them, but as you have said I just dont understand why.
Thats the reason for my question.

You keep all skill/stat points.

What you loose if you get 2 level up in a row is cost to improve skills will be 2 even if you used that skill. Stats always cost 1 point, so do psi powers.

EG: you were lvl 1, punched a lot of things, so when you get to lvl 2 and use level up mellee skill should cost just 1 skill point to upgrade. BUT if you leveled to lvl 3 (skipped lvl 2) than when you level up mellee will cost 2 skill points (actually ALL skills will cost 2).

Its not too bad early since you might wanna level skill by using them up to 45.

Oh thanks for clarification, so I think its better then keep every skill point before I reach 45 on them.

As a general rule, yes. You do want to avoid spending skill points in skills until they have reached 45. However, there are exceptions to this. Some of the more common ones are....

1. Psionic Skills: You can level them to 100 through use, not 45. BUT, because the chance to increase is lower/lower because of cooldowns, you generally want to pump that skill to the level you desire.

2. Electronics/Engineering/Decipher: If you want to advance those skills, it is often better to spend some points early. The opportunities to use them successfully at low skill levels are few and far between, and it may be bad to only hit skill 45 around floor 15. Depends on difficuly.

3. Rifle/AW/Heavy Weapons: Yes, you COULD try and hit skill 45 by force-firing at the ground. But that takes A LOT of ammo. Do you have that much ammo?

4. Traps: Why are you looking at this skill? This skill is horrible! Stop thinking about giving it points. Seriously. Until it gains some functionality, don't waste any points here.

Cool thanks for the tips, really apreciate it.
I have an eye also on some guides out there, but I think I will try a bit on my own to learn while playing... while dying hehe before checking them.

Cheers

People often save points when there isn't something worthwhile to spend the point or the stats you want cost two to increase.
