Public Beta for the control issue
Hello everyone,

Some people are experiencing a control issue with the game and we've launched an investigation about it.

We think we found a good fix but before to release the fix to everyone, we'd like to involve people into a public beta in order to confirm that the fix works and doesn't create side effects.

The fix is only available for the PC version and to get it, please follow the below Step:

1 - Go to your Steam Library.
2 - Right-click on Another World and select "Properties".
3 - Go to the "Betas" tab. If you don't have the tab, restart Steam.
4 - Select in the list "beta" to opt in and quit the "Properties" panel. Steam will update automatically the game with the fix.

The public beta will be last until Monday 16th to be sure that everyone get the chance to test it.

And please, leave a comment here to let us know if it works or not.

Best,
Thierry

Seems to fix the problem for me! Thanks so much, Thierry!

I feel awful going off topic, but in case it's been missed, it would be really awesome if somebody could follow up on this.

Ok good.
For the Linux request, it's not planned for the moment but I'll forward the request to the good person here to study it.

Awesome, thanks again! I hope Ryan's able to state his case - he seemed enthusiastic (I believe he's a fan).

Edit: In case it's not clear, he wants to make contact about porting the game, not to ask for a port.

I did have an issue. I use a Logitech F310 controller, and can't do anything. The only thing I can do is pause the game. I could move, jump, shoot, mycaruba, or anything. What should I do?

Can't get my Logitech Dual Action to work. The only button that will work is the menu button (number 8, right bottom sholder button). This seems worse than it was before. Before I could run , but he would just jump all the time as well.

Thanks for the feedback. Now that the keyboard works better, I'll fix the joypad code that was incidentally broken. Thierry will upload soon a new beta. Also please note the game should be played with the 1st pad, in case you have more than one connected.

I'm playing with keyboard and it seems to be good (it isn't before Public Beta). Thanks for your work!

I was messing around with my controller, and found out that when I set it to "direct input", it works. However, it's just cloning the keys on the keyboard to the buttons, so whatever. However, when I set it to "Xinput", that is where the problem is arosed. The start button does work, but none of the other ones, no matter how I map it under the settings. I just want to throw this out to to inform everybody, so you guys know.

Hi! I used to play Another World when I was young on my computer. I'm glad to have bought it, it's one of the most influential games in my library. I noticed several details that could be improved, because the gameplay experience was different with my Xbox Controller than it was on the keyboard.

Animation Fixes:

1. In the Cave Region, when you blast the Roof Tentacles, the particles that appear when you shoot your charged gun to them are displaced Horizontally. I noticed this because in the Dos Version looking at the particle animations was amazing. This happens on low resolution and high resolution.

Control Fixes:
1. The "Action" Button is a bit tricky: If you are running and wish to shoot you have to NOT BE MOVING AT ALL and press the action button, the thing is, To Run you have to press the Action button and the directional pad. The workaround for me was to stop moving before shooting or charging my gun. This could be easily fixed if you used another button for SHOOTING (optional) different than the action button.

Anyway, I'm a big Fan of Eric Chahi. I'm a game designer because of him! Please release Heart of Darkness in HD!
