Prison Architect: Alpha 15 Ideas/Suggestions
Hey guys! I'm back for more PA ideas, this time it includes me ACCUALLY posting it on Introversion (If you can) and hopefully we should get some ideas in this disscussion, in Alpha 15
and other updates!

So, to begin with, I will start of with:
  • Guard towers
  • Snipers
  • Explosive/grenades
  • More guns/weapons
  • Terrorist attacks
  • Weapon racks
  • Security alerts (e.g: Red alert ect)
    Can the warden have a pistol?
  • Chance of if in visitation, visitors can pull out guns, and shoot people, and help prisoners out

    So guys, thats all!

Guard Towers which would be tied into multiple tiers or floors for the prison with a staircase object connecting the two floors. Maybe scroll with the mouse wheel would change level view. More tiers or floors could be researched by the Foreman.

Guards placed in towers would have a better view range or maybe hire snipers who in case of a fight or riot in the yard would fire rubber bullets after several seconds at the combatants with they don't pass a stop fight check.

Training Rooms for guards which guards could be pulled from duty and sent to training to upgrade them to snipers or riot police or K-9.

Classrooms for inmates. Inmates could be assigned an intelligence level which would reflect their behavior. Lower intelligence would mean more prone to fighting or destruction but lesser chance of digging tunnels but higher intelligence would be the opposite with a better chance of escaping. Classrooms could satisfy intelligence needs or help with getting a prisoner released.

For deployment, have Staff Only and then No Prisoner to keep prisoners out of public areas as to separate visitor areas from prisoner. Also the option to separate the prison into blocks so A inmates can only be in A yards and B inmates can only be in B yards.

And last be able to make bathrooms for staff (just for realistic purposes) :)

not sure if its ever been mentioned, but think The Longest Yard. as in the original movie. The ability to hold games per day on the regime. football game on one day, B-ball on another. The ability to control the ref with bribe money to make game breaking calls and potentially start a riot., prisoners vs prisoners or vs guards. I'de like to have the ability to make a football field, or baseball field, and actual gym. have games and bring in some extra cash for big events. Maybe have some MMA cage fights. and the ability to make bets with your own money.

or have other rehabilitation services, like in some prisons, the good inmates get to have a pet.
A death row would be nice.

Have more control over what prisoners eat like in real life. Have the prisoners diet and regime reflect in they're looks. if you want to keep your prisoners on a high carb low protein diet, they will be fat, weak, and lazy. or feed them little and have a concentration camp like prison. or if you want exiciting games and a higher profit from making license plates, have them on a muscle building diet, but that comes with risk, as in prisoners overpowering guards.

tear gas, rubber bullets, flash bangs.
More flexibility as far as what prison you'de like to make. a midevil dungeon complete with moat with drawbridge and all stone construction, to a muddy WW2 concentration camp, to a luxury prison in the alps, to a guatanamo bay with c**k meat sandwiches for lunch, to an alcatraz surrounded by water and slow deliveries on ferries instead of trucks. to a supermax prison with octagon cell blocks.

i can go on and on and on.

Illness would be nice. I run a tight ship and almost NEVER have to use my med station. My nurse/ doc just sits there 90% of the time. If the flu or something can spread accross your prison it would give me a reason to use her again.

I'm not actually going to say it's a good idea, because I found your post only containing "more gunz". Have you actually considered that guards in most real life prisons do NOT carry guns at all?

This game is about running a prison sim, not about people shooting other people.

If you want more guns and explosives, you should play another game. Prison guards aren't full on commandos carrying 6 different types of weapons. They carry a taser and a baton tops. Guards are trained to diffuse an contain a situation with a less violence and as nonlethal as possible. Going gun-ho crazy is not going to help and many institutions have realized that.

So no, I'm not going to say it's a good idea, I'm actually going to say it's a very bad idea that was not thought out at all.

With you on this. Everything he thought was a cool idea was just guns, explosions and more guns. The flu idea was a good one from snake plissken- would give a point to having a medicine contraband, but wanting more guns and explosions and guns and guns and guns...that's not really what i look forward to. I would like the prisoners to be able to use the guns they smuggle in, and maybe be a little more inventive with escape attempts, but i'm not in favour of a gun update.

-I'd like to see less limited ways of housing prisoners, instead of 2x3 cells:
For example, multiple beds in a room, which would allow more prisoners per room/cell, which is more suitable for minimum security prisons. However, it could lead to violence between cellmates, ♥♥♥♥, collaboration to commit a crime(escape, kill someone, etc..)

-Bunk beds, allowing two prisoners per cell, might lead to what I've stated above^

-Placing "cells" outside, having no beds or toilet in a cell, having smaller cells:
They would make prisoners angrier and more inclined to escape, the lack of a toilet would cause them to defecate/♥♥♥♥ on the floor, and increasing the chance of diseases and further increasing unhappiness. Having cells outside(Guantanamo style) would increase their chances of getting sick(cold) and easier escape.
In addition, inhumane housing for your prisoners can result in lawsuits, disabling grants etc..
You could opt to become a millitary detention camp, removing the chance of lawsuits and legal issues, offering you different grant options, however all your current prisoners will be moved out of the prison, you could only receive "Supermax" risk prisoners which are highly dangerous.



-Biometric security:
You could hire a biometric security specialist and build a room with chip-implanting equipment, fingerprint scanner etc..
You can then choose to process staff and/or prisoners for fingerprints, implant microchips on prisoners(filtered by risk levels if you want)

You could upgrade jail doors and metal detectors to include RFID scanners, so whenever a prisoner who has a weapon and has a chip implanted, is detected by an upgraded metal detector, it will be alarmed to you and your guards, and he would be searched.
And during the night, if a prisoner hasn't been logged entering his cell, or during any other time a prisoner is in a restricted area, you could configure options such as begin a lockdown, guards will look for him based on his last known whereabouts.

Doors could be upgraded with fingerprint scanners, to allow easier access to staff(such as workmen,janitors) without requiring a guard to open them, however prisoners may attack the staff, and use an unconscious staff member's finger to open doors.




-Extra gear and guard options, obtainable by building an armory, which is
a restricted room that contains objects such as equipment lockers, weapon racks, each locker contains clothes/gear for one guard and each weapon rack contains up to 6 weapons.
You can then upgrade your guards(in the reports menu) and configure them:
-Add pepper spray - can be used to subdue aggressive prisoners
-Add taser - can be used to turn prisoners unconscious.
-Equip with riot control gear - extra defence, gas mask
-Add teargas grenade(requires riot control gear)
- when deployed, these will fill a room(up to a certain size, will go through jail doors and open doors) and will stop prisoners and staff from whatever they're doing, stopping any fights and making them leave the room
They can be deployed from the deployment menu, upon deployment a guard with a teargas grenade will rush into the room to throw a teargas grenade.
-Equip with riot shield - more defence, prevents prisoners from passing through him, slows the guard though.

The pathing needs fixing desperatly. Its sooo annoying seeing them stuck and twisting back and forth getting nowhere.

I would like an option to send prisoners to teh medical ward. Guards too as on several occasions they just stay injured, and an injured guard makes me nervous.

Appoint one prisoner the "snitch" would be great fun and add a lot to the game as he spys on everyone for you.

Female prisoners. This was discussed on a different thread, but you would have to keep teh guys and girls seperated as they will attack eachother if they can, forcing us all to redesign our prisons, it also needs to be random in what you get eg 8 prisoners could be upto 7 girls or 7 guys.

A second level for the cell blocks to help make our blocks more valuable.

A use for the lawyer and electric chair.

1: Introversion said that they would not be putting in different floors from the start. Please do not post about this subject again, as it has no reason to be here

2: the lawyer has a use, if a prisoner escapes, he lowers the fine, please use the term "More uses for the lawyer" in opposition to "Use for the lawyer"

Fix the prisoners not working bug, because my prisoners are ritoing that they dont have clean clothing. Also, be able to exucute prisoners, i mean, y do they let us place the electric chair if we can't use it?

that's slated for later release, it was put in as a placeholder.

You could just dismantle the object, than build a new one whereevr you want at no cost, because you dismantaled the object.
