Not really. Reloading your prison is a temp fix.

smaller prisons are less prone to lag, The bigger you go, the more "lag" you will encounter.

Last i read there was a knowen memory leak, and that was or is part of the cause of performance issues over time. Maybe it has been patched since, but yeh.

i play using 800 x600 resolution. that helps a bit. just a tad bit. saving and reloading also helps. there's always quitting and restarting as well.

I found that size is not really a problem, just an accelarator.
When I play with a small prison (25-40 prisoners, 5 guards, 2 workmen, 1 of each the others) it runs very slow (ingame hour is almost 15 minutes) after aproximatly 1 hour.
But when I load a larger prison (way over 100 prisoners, 50 guards, 15 workmen, 10 chefs, 1 of each of the others) It runs smouth for 30 minuts tops.

Running on 8GB DDR3 (1333)
Screen resolution does not seem to change the times a lot.

My fix: Keep the prison small and don't play for too long.

I have

Windows 7 Ultimate
Intel Core i7 3770k
64 bit
Nvidia GeForce GTX 660 Ti
16g of ram

I still find even with this upon long play periods on medium maps and with water turned off that I experience lag. This is most likely the memory leak that adds after time without a refresh or better yet save and quit for a total boot of the game.

It happens on a smaller map, just more play time.

But the game is in alpha so I don't expect it to be fixed soon. The most fault is the memory leak and not being optimized..
