Workshop/Laundry issues?
Hi guys!

Sorry if this is a stupid question but I can't seem to get prisoners to do any kind of work. I've set up both a laundry and workshop, prisoners have access to them, the regime has a big chunk of 'Work' in it but the prisoners seem to treat this time the same as free time? They'll go and sit in the canteen or chill in their cells or the yard. It's a bit of a pain because by day 10 they're rioting over not having clean clothes but I can't work out how to do anything about it!! I've had all of the different possible employees and none of them do anything with the laundry either?

Thanks for any help you can give me!!

If you use the deployment button, there is an "jobs" button in there. Click it and you can assign prisoners jobs in any of the green rooms.

How do we designate it as a 'green' room?

The room must be recognized as an employable room. This means that all of the requirements for the room to function must be met, prisoner labour must be researched, and the room must be an actual room (I.E. 4 walls and a door) and not just an extension of another room.

I've done all the research, built and labeled the room and installed the equipment. When I go to the deployment window, green is for 'unlocked' and black is for 'staff'. Coloring the room with either color does not give any options for assigning prisoners to work. What am I overlooking?

NM, I found my error--I had conjoined the laundry and workshop in a single room. Thx for the push in the right direction.

Yeah all the rooms have to be seperated by a door in order to be recognized. It's useful for being able to mark things like hallways as staff only or making a checkpoint at the front entrance and making that staff only to keep prisoners from escaping.

ok i have got a giant issue with my laundry, its a seperate building, it has several ironing boards, several washers, several laundry baskets, and prisonors assigned to it, but all they did was partially fill a baskets, then ended their shifts and now i just have a bunch of un destroyable, un moveable laundry baskets and every shift they just huddle in a mass somewhere in the room doing nothing, its causing riots over having no laundry and i cant get them to work for anything, i even made a new building and they do the same thing

PS i am only using one building at a time, not sure if using 2 at a time will make it better or worse

day 23 and bugged workshop because they dont go to recolect plates in deliveries and laundry because a dirty cloth its inside wall :(

someone know how can delete anything in job queue?
KillerRabbit Jun 6, 2013 @ 5:29am
I have tested many laundry layouts now and always end up with a bugged laundry in a couple of days. Usually some path-finding issues / stuck clothes in wall. Making the prisoners rioting all the time, and the laundry personnel is stuck in middle of the laundry room.

I removed some walls and it worked as a temporarily fix. But now a laundry basket is "stuck" in middle of a hallway, and even if there is many prisoners allocated to laundry, none is going to move the laundry basket and it's listed as a "red" thing in the job list / can't get to it.

4 prisons destroyed in my attempt to get a laundry working over long time.

The only solution I can think of is 3x4 cells with the bed in the middle so they dont toss the laundry into walls.

Or just ignore cells and create a huge holding room with beds 1 space away from any wall. Cloth delivery to holding cells seemed prioritized and worked well! (However, if the basket gets stuck randomly, there is nothing to do about it)

The problem i have is that i cannot deploy them, i can deploy them to the kitchen (but they dont go)

Checklist for people unsure what they need to get prisoners working:
-Room must be closed off to all other rooms(by the use of doors, if done correctly the room will turn green in the job deployment screen)
-You must have prison labour researched.
-Add prisoners by clicking the room in the job deployment screen.
-Regime must show "work" or no-one will go to there.

That's all you need. :)
